8 week old - is this a cold, teething or just normal baby development.

Has been acting a bit odd today - I realise it could just be normal baby development or maybe it is a cold or maybe its teething.
So the symptoms are - more dribbly than before, and the saliva is very mucousy. Is being sick more often as well and rather than the usual milky/cheesy look to it, its got more clear mucous that reminds me of her saliva. She is also having much shorter sleeps, fussing more during eating and more whingy crying than normal, but can be soothed with cuddles and singing so I don't think there's any major problem.
When she does sleep her breathing is louder and almost laboured, but its not constantly like that so I don't think she's having breathing difficulty. She's a bit more snotty but I wonder if that's just because of the extra crying. Oh and have checked - there's no temperature.

Any advice - am I being pfb and it sounds like just a growth spurt, or the saliva and hands in mouth makes me wonder about teething but she seems too young for that or is it just a cold?
thanks

It could be either to be honest. My dd got very snotty when first teething but then she also caught a cold at the same time! She also dribbled loads more too.
Dd started teething on amd off at 10 weeks but didn't get a tooth until 8 months.
When teething dd got really red cheeks (both ends) and poo that smelled of vinegar.

Thanks - either way poor little thing seems really unhappy and she definitely needs more cuddles and comforting so its an evening on the sofa and tidying up the house can wait till tomorrow...

Apparently food allergies are likely to first show themselves between 6 and 8 weeks. Hopefully this will be completely irrelevant information for you but if you have on going problems it could be an area to investigate.

Thanks greenish, it developed into a very obvious cold in the end. Lots of snot and struggles with breathing so much of the weekend was sat in a steamy bathroom to help clear the snot and mucous. Think we're through the worst of it and even made it out to shops today (to buy a first ever 'happy birthday dad' card ;-) )
