outward facing in a sling

I've used a sleepy wrap since ds was born, now he's older and curious he really wants to be outward facing when he's not sleeping. He likes being outward facing on my front but i know you shouldn't do this much as it's bad for their spine etc but when I tried tying him on my back he was not happy! Is it worth persisting or is there another type of carrier I could try for putting him on my back?

Idk know old your ds is and how big, but I have a lovely Little Life carrier which goes on my back - dd2 is now 9 months though, I'm not sure how young we could have used it from. Probably before 6 months she would have been too small for it.

Dd didn't like back carries to start but soon got over it. We have a Connecta. Nice n easy for DH to use too

I have a Rose & Rebellion sling which can be worn either in front (so face-to-face) or on the back. DD is nearly 6mo and not quite big enough to go on my back, but is upright enough in the front to see what's going on around her. Can't wait to stick her on my back though, she will love it.

You could try him on your hip, so he can see around a bit more but is still in a more comfortable position for both of you than facing out. I think they get used to back carries though.

If you're near a sling library (put your postcode in at www.babywearing.co.uk/localsupport to see) you could pop along and see what else might work too.

Wear him on your hip? The Ergo allows this. I find the Ergo facing me is great anyway as baby can look around freely and then snuggle up if necessary.

Thanks so much for the suggestions, I hadn't come across those brands of carrier before. It would be great to get something DH will wear as the sleepy wrap isn't quite his thing!
