Hello

I never did any crafts as a kid and I'm not particularly bad at it but want to do something with my 2 year old. I've got play doh and some cutters, paper and pens and an aquadoodle thingy. What other bits and bobs do I want to get? (Getting organised for Christmas presents as new baby on way.)

Ready mixed paints and big brushes. Something to tip the paint into (you can buy a palette or save and use trays and pots from food, then you can throw away instead of washing out)

Big roll of paper (Ikea do one). Plenty of plastic sheeting to cover surfaces and painting apron for both of you!

Kiddy scissors and suitable glue

Dd loves the glitter glue pens but they pretty muchget used all in one go at the moment. At our surestart she loves pva glue and a speader andmakes patterns with the glue but also sticking little pompoms on.

DD (2) loves pom poms, stickers and foam stickers - spends ages peeling the backs off the foam ones and sticking them on paper. Feathers are a big hit here too along with tissue paper torn up and loads of glue. If you can handle the tidy up then glitter would be good (or outside!) DD just spent a very happy half hour playing with a roasting tin full of cheap rice with buttons and letters buried that she had to find. God bless hoovers Grin

Googly eyes are much loved in our house and no arty/crafty stuff takes place without them! Get a decent size pack of stick on eyes at Morrissons for £1.75 - in fact Morrisons has loads of craft bits, tissue, card, foam shapes at really cheap prices.

Coloured pencils!

I didn't realise what an 'art' there is to pencil control until my DS1 started school and struggled with it (he's 21yrs old now and still has bad handwriting).

I think it was because he never really like colouring in (preferring to paint etc)

So when he started Nursery/School, he struggled with gripping a pencil comfortably.

Oh and if you haven't already got it, buy your DC the play doh barber shop

Seeing the hair sprout out the top, just never gets old Grin
