Hi there TLV - I did three courses of Water Babies with my dd (almost 3) and am halfway through the first course with my ds (17wks). What would you like to know?!

I've almost finished my 3rd course with DD (11 months) and have booked onto the 4th one. We both love it. The teacher is excellent, the classes very well organised, best (only!) activity we do Smile

was wondering what people thought of it, what it entails etc etc, is it worth the money Grin

Hiya
It basically entails geting them used to the water, and feeling confident happy and safe there.
We loved it and so did DS. We did it from 14 weeks old, and by the end of the 10 weeks he could swim underwater on his own for about 5 ft, and knew to hold his breathe when he went under water.

For us it was worth the money cos the pool was a private very warm one, and it taught us the right speed to go and the right things to do
Very worthwhile

I totally echo what the others have said - the only slight issue I had was that by the time I had finished the third course with dd I felt it was a little repetitive and both she and I were growing a bit bored. However, she is sooo confident in the water and can get herself to the side of the pool and hold on there, so I think we achieved the main goal.

I go to a hydrotherapy pool with ds for his WB classes, and he is almost finished his first course (started at 11 wks). He and I both love it and I am defo going to do the next course.

Absolutely worth the money (think it's around 8.50 for a half-hour lesson so not cheap) and if you get a good group of mums in your class then the social thing afterwards is pretty good too!

I would try to start your wee one as quickly as possible, as when I did it with dd some of hte other babies were over 6mths and they were the ones who tended to scream and seem a bit agitated about it.

Thoroughly recommended!

Sorry to be a dissenting voice but I did a weekend course with ds and by the end of it he was terrified. He was 11 months old when we started though - They don't take babies over a year old as beginners as they often get scared. If doing this start when they are very young. Ds now hates the water and we have had to cut right back on the swimming etc.
