Swimming with a 8wo?

I'm wondering about taking my pfb who is 8wo to the swimming pool soon. I've heard about these 'waterbabies' type sessions but thought they were ridiculously expensive, so would rather do it on my own. Just a splash-around session for him to have fun (he enjoys bath-time).

Has anyone done this and what do you do about nappies? I've got some waterproof swimming trunks with towelling lining. Are these supposed to be worn without a nappy?! I've heard you can double-nappy them too.

TIA

I took dc1 at 8 weeks. You do need to double nappy, usually with a disposable swim nappy and at that age some sort of wetsuit.

Usually you'll manage a max of 20 mins before they get cold even with a wetsuit on, but it is great fun! Have food ready quickly afterwards, breast or bottle.

THanks HP, there's lots of options I see now. I like the look of the velcro wetsuits that grow with them.

I am glad to read this.. I love going to the pool and was hoping to bring my baby when it arrives!
A friend brings hers and says it is just the best thing ever seeing them.. ahh
(think she uses Little Swimmers)
Have a lovely time!
