Cloth nappies - anyone tried an all-in-one??

Hi. Am expecting 2nd child in August and have bought a load of Tots Bots ready for her. However, I can't see the point of buying rainbow tots when they are going to be covered up by a wrap. Does anyone out there use an AIO which has a nice colour/design on it? I have been looking at the Wonderoo nappy and wondered if it got good or bad feedback from other mums? Any recommendations/advice would be appreciated.

you can see them!

seriously, if you already have the tots why bother with buying more?

sarahlou1uk · 13/06/2006 20:49

because I want to buy some in the next size up!

I tried a kooshies ultra, being bamboozled by the sales talk, and it was awful, leaked and took ages to dry. I since found out that this is a problem with all-in-ones and particularly with kooshies. I have a Nappy Nation all-in-one which is a little like the Tots but with a wrap sewn to it at points, and dries relatively quickly, so this is a little better.

But overall, I prefer stuffable nappies, with Happy heinys being my fav at the moment. You can buy them in all kinds of designs, ds2 particularly likes his 'spidey frog'! You don't have the prob with drying as the outer bit dries separately from the insert.

However, if you've just bought loads of tots bots you may not want to change them. Why not just buy nice wraps? I used to use Motherease Air Flow and they come in various designs.

Someone on mumsnet had a blog site comparing different nappies where other users could add their opinions - does anyone remember it?

why don't you wait and see how you get on with the tots? I use those and love them. have heard the all in ones are not as absorbent.

I must say that as I moved from having one child to two, and then the second one getting older, pocket nappies appealed even more as they are far closer to the convenience of disposables.

Why not get patterned wraps?

Agree with Mummypig - Happy Heinys are lovely, gorgeous prints. Not as reliable as Tots though - I find they need changing more often. Great show-off nappy though.

The nappy blog she is talking about is maisiemog's - \link{http://clothnappyreview.blogspot.com/\here} = well worth a look.

nature babies do lots of cute wraps, as do weenotions. There are some cute wraps out there!

I've got a wonderoo, but can't get all that excited by it. I would say some bamboo nappies (siez 2) \link{http://www.geobel.co.uk\these} are much much better than tots imo,a nd just some lovely wraps.

Bumsnugglers do some lovely fleece ones, woolywraps and puddlepants do great wool ones.

Loads of nappy chat \link{http://www.washabums.co.uk\here} that would have hints for pretty wraps.

Flameboo,I was just about to order some tots bamboozles. Can you tell me why you think the wam bamboo are better?
Thanks for the link btw. I like the look of the pink velour wrap.

FlameBoo · 21/06/2006 08:45

They are slimmer at the front because the seam has been overlocked rather than folded in on itself iyswim, they seem longer too making them an ideal btp - they just about fit my 3yr old dd's bum and she is in age 5 knickers. The tabs are longer too so they have more room for fatter children.

The booster isn't attached, which some people don't like, but I find it easier to get just the right positioning depending on boy/girl (its 3 layers too instead of 2 like tots, so although it is a bit shorter than the tots one, its easier to fold for a girl to get 8 layers in total - I could only ever work out how to fold for 6 layers for DD).

Thanks, I think I will get one to try as they come in pink! I've only been using cloth for 2 days so I am still choosing on appearance and cuteness. I expect after a few weeks I'll be rather more concerned about performance.

FlameBoo · 21/06/2006 10:57

I'm 4 months into cloth with my second, and appearance still plays a big part
