When did you put your kids in the same room?

I am due in September with DS2 and have a 14 month old DS. I would obviously not put them in the same room straight away, but like the idea of bunk beds and them sharing when they are a little older.

How old should they be when I put them together?

Sorry, I can't help you, I'm in the same boat though...
Watching thread with interest as I'm due in December and have 14mo too

DS1 was 3 when we moved DD into his room (she was 14 months). They have beds on opposite sides of the room, though I'm going to move them into bunk beds when DS2 moves into their room.

I think you should move them in together once you feel confident that they won't be disturbing each other. In our case DD would have moved in earlier if DS1 wasn't such a bad sleeper-she slept through the night before he did!

The baby moved into a cot in her sister's room at 6 weeks. She woke once or twice a night and she didn't disturb her older sister at all (who was 20 months or so). We never needed to turn on lights in the bedroom as I fed the baby in the lounge at night. Was fine.
They still share a room and will do so until they're teens. I like my home office too much to give it over to a child!

Thanks for your responses. My DS1 is a terrible sleeper so might wait til the new one is sleeping well before I get them together! :)

We have bunk beds in DD1's room (she's 3.8) in anticipation of DD2 going in to share. DD2 is 16 months and to be honest I can't see it happening any time soon. DD2 still doesn't reliably sleep through, and like a poster said up thread, I'll be buggered if I let the bad sleeper wake the good one up! Plus DD2 still really needs to be in the cage cot a while longer, she's a villain! Grin

Yes, was also wandering when they come out of a cot, when babba is 6 months (and sleeping through all night, every night like all babies should Hmm) DD will be 2- can she go in a proper bed?

Sorry to hijack thread.....

I think it depends on the child Mad DD1 was 16 months when she went into a bed, I hurt my back and couldn't lift her out of the cot. She was great, never got out of bed. DD2 on the other hand is likely to remain in the cot until her 18th birthday Grin

Thankyou!

Dd1 was about 3 and dd2 was 1. They were in cots/ small beds until they really could squeeze into them no more. Moved them into bunk beds when dd1 was 7 and dd2 5. The child on top bunk should ideally be 6+. Also waited until ds was a bit more confident climbing etc as although he's not in their room he inevitably does want to play in there with them.
