Urgent help! Have started potty training by accident

Ds is 2.4. I've been asking him if he wants to sit on the potty for months and he has been but hasn't done a wee for several months either (we had a good patch when he was around 20 months but I couldn't do anything about it as dd had just been born). He goes to nursery Mon-Weds and they sit him on the potty three times a day as well after nappy changes. Yesterday we seemed to have a breakthrough and he weed two out of the three times that he sat on the potty. I gave him a chocolate button each time and now he has really caught on to the idea. This afternoon he refused to have his nappy back on after his nap and sat on the potty for 45 minutes as he wanted the chocolate button so badly. Eventually I took the potty and the buttons and went to my neighbours, where we should have been half an hour before. Within 5 mins of getting there he'd done a wee in the potty with no prompting. Since then we've had two more wees in the potty and a small poo on the carpet (don't think he recognises the need to poo sensation - I assume that comes later???)What do I do tomorrow - I've got no pants in the house, no disposable changing mats and no travel potty! I do have potties, a loo seat and carpet cleaner though. Help please........

Go for it.... and get him outside in the sunshine as much as possibel so u dont have to clean up all the accidents!

there are lots of children who are dry aroubd or even befoer their 2nd birthday!

At least it is the weekend and sunny - spend time in the garden and save the carpet :)
I found mine loved for "big pants" and made it into a nice adventure. Do you have any time to pop out tomorrow morning somewhere local and buy a few pairs of pants? If you go to a fairly large mothercare/Boots/John Lewis type store, you will be able to pick up a travel potty (we have one but hardly used it though!).
Once mine worked it out, they had very few wet accidents.
Often mine would "forget" when they were overexcited or busy - often at friend’s houses/shops etc. If you are out, just keep asking them every 20mins or so if they need to use the potty to remind them to stop. You will be fine - sounds like he is doing really well.

Thanks for the encouragement - his Grandma is coming over tomorrow so my dh asked her to bring some special big boy pants from Grandma - thought that might help make it more exciting for him. How often should we be reminding him about the potty when he is at home?
