I am just writing this as I have at least 3 friends who spent hundreds on a set of reusables/ cloth nappies, byt they leaked so much when bubba was tiny that they chucked it in and have a cupboard full of nappies. I just thought the other day (DS is 11m) this is so much easier!! We started using cloth nappies at 3 months and I had moments when I thought aaargh!!
I think it's because he now drinks less liquid so there are less leaks. Also the poos are usually more solid so there's less contact with the brown stuff and less hideous explosions to deal with. Just wanted to send encouragement!!

I always recommend that people buy some 2nd hand to start off with to find out what suits. Also that a fitted nappy and seperate bomb proof wrap like air are a good place to start!

Same as RandomMess my best tip is two-part nappies.

Couldn't get to grips with real nappies on DS1 (tried & gave up at 3mo, tried again and succeeded at 12mo). Now with DS2 he's been in real nappies from the start and I'm actually finding them SO much more reliable and leak proof than disposables.

Hi. This is exactly what I need. I've kind of given up. Mainly because most of DDs leggings, trousers etc don't fit over the nappies. And I find it really awkward and uncomfortable to carry her on my hip. Plus I'm starting back at work next month and will leave LO with husband and childminder. I always get the impression that people think I'm too tight to buy 'the proper thing' for my baby but honestly disposables take up half of the space in our black wheely bin. I need help!

No spekulatius I hope they don't think that! I'm sure they're just jealous because I thonl real nappies users can seem a bit intimidating because they're doing more washing and saving the planet. You have to do what works for you though. I know what you mean about the clothes thing. I have ended up putting Ds in one size up and shorts. Think it will be dungarees in the winter. I can't afford Frugi!

I used reusables most of the time. Had some shaped nappies but ended up using squares and a nippa mostly. Once I'd got used to folding I found that I could get a nice snug fit and contain explosions!

On a practical note re clothing, used a lot of leggings, dungarees, soft trackie bottom type trousers.

Bamboo fabric nappies are more absorbant than cotton so are a slimmer fit btw.
