Is it possible that my 9 week old may be teething?

How do I check and what can I do to help her?

Some are born with teeth, so it is possible. Not sure there's much you can give a 9wo though - ask HV?

All mine teethed from 8 weeks so yes its def possible! Seem to recall most teething gels were ok but please check. Is hard as not a lot you can do.

yep, dd has been teething since 5 weeks. after the initial 10 days or so it settled for a couple of weeks and is now back with a vengeance. She is now 15 weeks and having a bad 24hrs or so every couple of days.

Bonjela can be used at 8 weeks, dentinox gel from birth and nelsons teething powders. calgel cannot be used until 12 weeks. I have yet to find a teether that helps dd- she prefers her fingers or a muslin (or my finger).

I also use paracetamol when she is really bad- speak to your doctor/ pharmacist if the gels don't work.

No sign of teeth here yet and I think it will be a while before they appear, it's just hard not being able to help much.

-just to add, when dd is bad, she has diarrhoea which can make her a bit grumpy, but she likes to feed more for comfort (is breastfed), so I end up with lots of extra cuddles Grin

Some babies are born with teeth and some don't get teeth still way pass their 1st birthday. 6 months is about the average. So yes could be teething if showing all the signs. My DD has been teething since 10 weeks but her tooth has only just broke at 5.5 months

My 8week old is teething at the min we're using the Ashton and parsons teething powers and dentinox gel. Calpol is from 2months+ now for the very bad times!

Thanks! How do you know if they are teething?

DS started early too and, after many looooong weeks of screaming cut his first two teeth at 16 weeks, then another two came at 20 weeks followed by another two at 24 & 28 weeks. My sisters DD is 9m now and has none - every baby is different and they'll come when they want a bit like baby in the first place Grin

As for relief, it's hard when they're so unsettled so young but the best thing we found was Anbesol liquid.
Teething toys were redundant really as he was unable to put them too his mouth and was far too unsettled to allow us to hold it there for him.

We were also told to alternate para and ibuprofen for maximum pain relief on the really bad days

I think everyone thinks everything is teething. Chewing, dribbling, roaring crying etc. is normal and not a sign necessarily of teething. People are very quick to pull out the drugs. If I gave him calpol every time someone told me 'he's definitely teething' he'd be an addict. Months later still no teeth but clothes constantly destroyed with dribbles, hand always in the mouth and yes, he cries like a demon at times. It's probably wind. :)

Definitely possible. My DD had her first tooth at 16 weeks.

I used half an ashton and parsons powder for her. Worked very well. Unfortunately, they do not have the same affect on my DS!

My health visitor says they are teething from the second they are born.mine is 8 weeks and is definitely teething by other son 14 months started teething early and by 12 months had a full set
