What does your 7-9month old play with?

My ds is 7 months now and seems to get bored of his toys quite quickly even if I'm playing with him. He has a mix of plastic stuff and household items like pots, colander, wooden spoon etc.

Can anyone tell me what sort of toys your dcs like?

DS is 8 months. Kitchen utensils are also popular in the house, especially the slotted spoon. He loves sitting in his ball pool, playing with firefly, chewing on board books, loves watching us blow bubbles at him, likes rattling packets of food, shaking plastic bottles that have water in them, bashing parts of his wooden train etc. He's usually happy as long as he has something to gnaw on!

Anything colourful and/or that makes sounds. He also has the firefly as above, fave handheld toy and has been for a while. He has had a jumperoo since 4mo and still seems to be fascinated with it so he enjoys himself in there quite a bit. And paper. He loves paper. He likes the crunchy noise. [DS is 7mo]

Currently an empty cereal packet is a huge hit. Dd (9months) seems to go for things with irritating noises slot too.

Her brother's old toys: stacking cups, cars with spinny wheels, things that light up, move and make noises, blocks, boxes, books... anything really. We haven't actually bought her any new toys specifically for her.

The ps3 controller is her fave thing right now (drives dp crazy!) her proper toys that she is most into atm are her stacking cups (only for knocking down though) her rocking horse (very closely supervised) and her push along walker thingy. Mostly she loves things that mean she doesn't have to sit still. Also anything that makes a noise is instantly her best friend, for about 5 mins until she throws it and giggles like a maniac.

Thank you for replies!

It all sounds v similar too, especially console controllers!

Think ill get him some stacking bricks/cups and more bath toys as he will stay in there playing for ages

Love the empty cereal packet! Grin it's funny how the things that aren't designed for them are the most intriguing

I did make him a treasure chest out of a basket filled with all random bits and bobs of different shapes, textures and smells which he loves digging around in.

The spaniel's ears!

Disclaimer: we do stop her!

DfanjoUnchained · 23/07/2013 20:40

Grin oh yes my cat's ears get it all the time! They never learn and keep going back up to him for a nuzzle and get pinned down

Books. Especially board books with flaps or textures.

Balls with noises inside. Plastic cups.

DS (8 months) has lots of toys but his favourite thing in the world is to bang on an empty packet of baby wipes!
