Re-starting breastfeeding after a break

I had real problems trying to breastfeed my son and after 7 weeks of stress I gave up. He is now 12 weeks old & has recently been rooting for my breast. He has fed a few times but only for 2 minutes before he gets frustrated or falls asleep.

Does anyone have any tips on how to increase my milk supply? Also, has anyone else had success in re-establishing breastfeeding after a break.

Thanks in advance! Smile

If you google 'relactation' kellymom and LLL have advice. I think the main thing is putting your baby to the breast lots.

Could you call a breastfeeding helpline for help?

Hi it is definitely possible but you do need to get some RL help with positioning & attachment. In the meantime, lots & lots of skin to skin & put ds to boob every time he starts rooting.

Do you live in South Wales by any chance? I can recommend a good bf expert if so.

Good luck!

Hi. Thanks for both of your pieces of advice. I'll defo look at the Kelly mom website.

No I'm not in South Wales, I'm in Manchester. Smile

Bump there is another poster who has done this, catgirl or star girl? Can't remember her name but hopefully she will see the thread.

Set kellymom and LA leche league and try and see a breeding counsellor.

Lots of skin to skin, let him nurse as much as he wants. You can also try a supllemental nursing system :)
