Night Nappies for 45kg 4yr old - to big for size 6 (but absorbancy fine)

DD is almost 4yrs old, happily trained in daytime for nearly 2 yrs, but is still a way off for training at night. I have no issue with this (nor is DD bothered about wearing nappies at night) EXCEPT I can't find nappies big enough!!

I used cloth nappies until she was dry in the day, (mainly bum genius but we did have some others). But I gave up with the washing of them with just one a day. Standard real nappies only go up to about 35kg so these are now too small anyway.

I have worked my way though Sainsburys, tesco, asda, aldi, and lidl pull ups finding lidl the biggest so far - but even these are now really too small. (I can't afford the 45p+ a nappy of the drynites pj pants)

I contacted the health visitor (or rather got a nursery nurse on the local health visitor phone line) and asked about options - having be told that the health visitor can apparently get nappies for over 3's - to be told that I would have to prove she had special needs (I've no reason to believe she has) and would unlikely be accepted before she was 7 years old for night-time use. I asked if I could buy larger nappies from their souce to be told no. Her only suggestion was the drynites - I said I couldn't afford those - she said there was nothing she could do about that - or offer any other suggestion (except forcing her to train at night!!).

The only real nappy I can find that might work is the motherease Bedwetter pants - which I'm fine with except I can't find them under £20 each. I would need 4 I think to ensure I could get them dry - and finding £80 would be a bit much atm.

So I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions ???

Thanks

My DD is 16kgs and I use Pampers (6+) pull ups.

They have them on Amazon, about 20p a nappy.

If you got a day time trainer and put boosters in, would that work?

UniqueAndAmazing · 25/07/2013 12:52

what size normal clothes is she in?
It might be possible to get a dressmaker to make her something that would work.

I think something that has removeable boosters would work best for the drying time.

Unique - she's in a size 6-7 normal pants. Making something is not something I had thought of - but I should as I make lots of her other stuff. You might be on to something there....

We also used cloth for DD1, but: she was dry during the day at 3 but didn't night train until she was 5! We found night cloth nappies for her size too bulky and not absorbent enough, so we used Naty pull-ups. Ocado and Boots both sell size 6 online (and maybe in-store) which are for 16+kg.

Another plus being that Naty are a more eco-friendly disposable....

A bit off-beam, but would you consider using cloth sanitary towels?

Look at 'honour your flow'.

We use naty at night and they are good.

We have a packet of size 7 nappies that my DSS had before he was dry (he does have SN) so they are prescription ones. Whereabouts in the world are you? You're welcome to them...

Have you tried Libero they make pads for Children I believe the size 7 go up to 30 or 35kgs. Amazon often have good deals on dry nights or underjams. I recently used the Libero on a 7yo and they fit well and are good for the night!

Dri nites do night time ones for 8-15 year olds. My two still wet at night and weigh more than 45lbs. These fit well and are very absorbant.

cool :)

have a look at www.plushaddict.co.uk
for fabric - they do the waterproof (PUL) and absorbent fabrics of all kinds :)

We use the Drynites for DS1. He is 5 and about 42lbs.

I never pay full price, they are normally on offer somewhere.

Have no idea what these are like but they are toddler specific nappies

Also what about little lambs size 3?

My dd was waking up with soaking nappies too, took them away, lifted her at our bedtime and after a couple of accidents she was fine, she might not be as far off as you think...
