I have a ds 21 months. Just come back from 10 days away and exhausted. Combo of sleep disruption I guess due to new environments, and just general struggle to get through each day as ds had shorter temper than usual...I guess again due to unfamiliarity of surroundings. Anyone else feel this way after a holiday with a toddler/s? When does it get better? Any holiday tips? I have a v helpful dh so its not due too lack of support.

Unfortunately it's just a really hard age to go on holiday. I've found villas/self catering places work better than hotels (you can get meals on a toddler's schedule, more room to play etc) but to be honest I prefer to stay home than holiday with my DC3 (21 months). During the last holiday we took (Easter), he wouldn't go to bed, woke up all the time through the night, wanted to be breast feed through the night... I was exhausted by the end of it too so I know how you feel. My DDs are older (6 and 4) and holidays with them have been lovely since the youngest was about 3. You'll get there! If you really need to get away, try going with grandparents or another family with young kids - that can help with entertainment during the day. Another idea is to run shifts with your DH - he looks after the baby for the morning while you rest, relax, read, sightsee etc, then you swap. You don't have to do this every day, but it can be nice to have a little break.

Thanks salted, that makes me feel better. It was self catering which helped. W did do a UK break earlier this year with another family and it was better...more adult company and a feeling of 'all in it together'. I shouldn't be complaining as we only have one child and I know people manage with many more kids.
