How do I get my two month old to fall asleep on her own?

Hi

My DD who is 2 months now only falls asleep if we are rocking her in our arms, and even then it can take up to half an hour sometimes to settle her to sleep. How do we get her to fall asleep on her own?

Thanks for your help! Thanks

Forgetful, I will let you know Smile I am thinking of buying one of those mobile gym things that have music and natural sounds. I'm hoping that might do the trick but it is a big hope!

My DS is 2 months and at the moment we're finding either my wrap sling or his bouncy chair are the best ways to get him off to sleep without lots of cuddling and rocking. The chair only seems to work after a feed when he's nice and full & generally sleepy anyways. The sling comes out when he's got overtired and is having a grump. In this heat though we are using the chair much more often as its cooler for me & him!

Half an hour? That's good going. Ive been jigging my 1month old twins all morning and they've only just gone to sleep not resenting the health visitor turning up in 20mins to do their weekly weigh in, no not one bit!
Seriously though, it takes time. Contrary to popular belief babies are awful sleepers and yours is reaching the age where she's more alert and aware of things going on around her and will not want to give up on all the lovely stimulation and go to sleep. I found with dd at that age that I needed to put a scarf/muslin or something over my shoulder covering her head as I was holding her to block out anything of interest

Good luck!

Ewan the Dream Sheep. Certainly doesnt do the whole job, but my sleepy six week old DS loves the sounds and will fall asleep quite happily to it.

My 6 Month old started self settling around 8 weeks and can honestly say it wasn't because of me i noticed he would become agitated just as he was drifting off when being held so began putting him down while sleepy but still slightly awake and he wud grizzle himself to sleep but wasn't agitated so realised he preferred that. I would do anything to have him let me cuddle him to sleep but he screams at me as soon as i lay him down he rolls on his side and goes to sleep i feel a bit redundant sometimes as i now put him down fully awake and he rolls until he's comfy and goes off. Not looking forward to our 4 hrs flight to turkey in September with a baby who won't be cuddled to sleep. Sorry probably not much help but my point was supposed to be maybe try putting her down when she is nearly asleep and gradually make it longer and longer and hopefully you can put her down fully awake and she will eventually self settle gradually.

My 4 month old daughter has also got the problems with falling asleep... The best way -to breastfeed her to sleep but it only works when she's hungry. She's not the one who hangs on my breast just to be close or sth. She uses it as a bowl of milk Grin We had time when she fell asleep on my breast every evening. For two weeks we've been trying to put her to sleep in various ways, cuddling, rocking, putting her in various positions, giving her a dummy, singing, listening to lullabies... and after 1h or even 2hs she finally flows away :P

Just got my 13 week old LO to sleep, by breastfeeding & walking round the house - at the same time.

She is asleep on me, as usual!

Have tried Moses Basket several times today but she wakes up as soon as I put her in and does this at me Hmm

A 99p Teabag squeezer from Ebay has been my best buy this year, Lots of 1 handed tea making since April Grin

I downloaded the white noise app.

It works every time on my 1 month old (when she hasn't got wind) and has done for a couple of weeks.

If you have a smartphone it's worth a go
