When did you stop using a movement monitor?

My DS is almost 14 months and his movement monitor has just about given up. I am so reluctant to stop using one, but figure that it is probably not necessary to use one now he is over a year old. When did you stop using yours?

I fully intend never to use one.

Does that help?

ggirl · 18/07/2013 22:29

never did use one

GingerJulep · 18/07/2013 22:29

Seriously though - presumably he can call for you if needed? How far away is his room from wherever you'll be?

Never used one. But DS was in our room till he was 12 months (partially because we were too lazy to organise and decorate his room).

My little boy is one and we stopped a couple of months ago when the little wiggle bum kept setting the alarm off! Nb

Smartiepants79 · 18/07/2013 22:38

Never used a movement monitor.
We used a sound monitor til she was about 2.5.
Having said that DD2 is 7 months now and we have never used any monitor for her at all! Blush

phantomhairpuller · 18/07/2013 22:42

Never have, never will.

Sound monitor, fine. Movement monitor, way OTT.

HTH

Well in sorry for your loss lunatic but I'm entitled to my opinion.

phantomhairpuller · 18/07/2013 22:49

And actually I think 'fuck off' is a tad harsh since I'm not a mind reader and didn't know you'd lost a baby. Nor was I aiming my comment directly at you.

Phantom a tad harsh is how people often behave when you hit a nerve.

Lunatic, I'm sorry for your loss.

Op. I bought one and fully intended to use it but then ended up co sleeping. The process of dd moving into her own room was so gradual that the time never came.
If yours is broken and dc is well over a year it's as fine as it will ever be.
Smile

Norfolknway · 18/07/2013 22:57

Never used one - DD is 2.1

Norfolknway · 18/07/2013 22:59

However, our room is right next toDD and she was in our room til 8 month - dont know if that makes a difference.

Ellen7 · 18/07/2013 23:08

About 20 months, out of habit really as it was just there. It's whenever you feel ready to stop rather than thinking you should. There's no specific age limit, although a teenager might find it a bit intrusive lol

LookingForwardToMarch · 18/07/2013 23:14

Oh after dd turned blue on me a few times we got the movement, sound and camera monitor.

Stop using it whenever you are ready op.

I plan to turn it off when she hits around 18....

(I'm not even joking)

GampyWabbit · 18/07/2013 23:15

I stopped at around 1yr with first child and a bit earlier by the time I got to the third! I only used the movement part as our rooms are next door and I could hear them well enough without the sound part!

It is comforting to have, but now does sound like a good time to stop.

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 19/07/2013 00:41

I still use mine and dd is 16 months. I don't think ill be ready to stop using it for a long time yet.

GiveMeVegemite · 19/07/2013 14:08

Thanks for all your comments, apart from yours phantom, which was not constructive at all.... I don't care if you think it's over the top, anything that gives me peace of mind is worth every penny.

lunatic sorry to hear about your loss :(

Cool, I still have my sound monitor so will give relegate the movement monitor to be bin!

I am another one who thinks a movement monitor is over the top for me. BUT I havent been in a situation where I felt the need to use one. Fair play to those who want to use one.

We only used a noise one for the first month dd was out of our room.
