My baby is just over 2 weeks old and seems to hate sleeping. Ill breast feed him and he'll dose off on me or Will fall asleep on myself or my husband whilst been rocked but the minute you move him to put him into his pram he wakes up and we are back to square one.Hes good at been awake all night as he'll settle on one of us but wakes up the minute he is put into his pram so he often gets over tired which makes him so much harder to settle. Any ideas?

I am still awaiting my newborn but someone on another thread recommended this which I bookmarked as a possible (expensive) solution to when they want to sleep on you when they are little.

DD was premature and went through a very long phase of only sleeping on my chest. It is possible to sleep like that I found - it requires a LOT of pillows, a double bed to yourself, and trial and error to find a comfy position where the baby is held securely in position, but it is possible.

I would say at this age ride with what the baby needs as much as you can and just keep trying the crib every so often. At some point they will sleep there. IMO it's more important to get the baby to sleep in whatever way necessary and prevent overtiredness (which is a total and complete bastard to deal with) than it is to get them to sleep in the "right" place.

Oh and I second the transfer in blanket idea. I used to hold dd on my chest with a blanket between us, then wrap her in the blanket and transfer to crib - she stayed asleep longer this way. however that was in winter, not sure I'd try it in this heat...

Completely normal for a two week old. Ds1 was able to be put in a cot without waking and cryibg at 6 weeks old. ds2 was 15 months! I ended up co-sleeping with ds2 as he just wouldn't sleep without me.

Minipie how is your little one getting along? I am 19 wks now, due mid-dec.

My dd was like this at 2 weeks old, absolutely refused to sleep Moses basket. I ended up co-sleeping and at 2 months now I have moved her cot into our room next to our bed, which she sleeps in for a couple of hours.

hi Quod, she's great! she's now nearly 9 months/7.5 corrected and a handful very energetic! still doesn't sleep well mind you Hmm too excited about life... So pleased for you, 19 weeks is a nice stage of pregnancy - good luck for the next scan! will you be finding out boy or girl?

Have a google of reflux, even if your lo doesn't vomit it can still affect them and one of the first signs is not being able to sleep lying down flat. My two have both had silent reflux and slept much better with the Moses basket on an angle. Life becomes so much easier once you understand how to position them and get the meds right. Also look up Dr Sears advice of stages of sleep, you need to move them at the right stage of a sleep cycle to get them to stay asleep! Good luck (she says with her 8 week old still asleep on her, ops!)

Neither of mine would ever settle if transferred into the Moses basket after feeding/falling asleep until i worked out that they just hated sleeping on their backs.
Both slept on their sides or tummies from about 3 weeks

I have found that he prefers sleeping on his side loads more than his back. He is easier to transfer to his pram during the day whilst asleep and also first thing at night. we have the problems after his first overnight feed, he feeds i wait till he is asleep and try and transfer him over but its rare he settles in the pram
