Hi all!
My daughter is 7 months old and I am having a major clear out of baby equipment!
Got me thinking about What was worth buying and what was a waste.
Best buy was pink bouncy chair that she has used everyday fron around 3 weeks and still loves!
worst was probably scratch mitts which she never ever used.
What was your best and worst buy for the first year?

Best buy: Troll bedside cot, good compromise between co-sleeping and separate sleeping. He's still in it at 15 months. Breast feeding pillow from John Lewis. Bugaboo Bee. Expensive as hell (was a gift) but light, easy to fold, good on public transport, reversible. Grobag/John Lewis baby sleeping bags.

Worst buy: changing bag. Too bulky, I ended up just chucking some nappies, wipes etc in my handbag. Swaddle pod. He was able to get out of it in two seconds. Close Caboo carrier sling. Should have waited till he was born and test driven a few other slings. This was never that comfortable. Jumperoo. He didn't like it and our old flat had doorways mostly too thick to put it up. Various swinging/vibrating seats, none of which he liked much.

Worst - vests and snow suit, DD1 may have been born in January, but she was always too warm.

Grizzled if you put her in a vest and screamed if in a snow suit for a second in the house, car or a shop. A blanket stuffed in a quickly unzipable cosy toes was far better.

Best - by a million miles, an original go anywhere Mountain Buggy.

DD1 wouldn't be swaddled or put in a sling, I think they were to hot and constricting too.

Best
Tippitoes baby bath, as it has a built in support so baby can't slip. I think DS was in it for almost 12 months. Absolutely love it and am using it again for DD.
Muslins as they have so many uses and DS was quite a sicky baby.
Ikea highchair - so easy to clean, cheap and easy to store and transport if needed.
My boobs Grin although not a purchase breastfeeding was the only thing which would settle DS and once latched on it was like we'd pressed a reset button.

Worst
Bouncy chair - DS didn't like it.
Babasling - DS just never felt secure so I never really used it.
Babystyle Oyster - I like this pushchair and I'm using it for DD but it is not a good pushchair for a big baby. We actually stopped using a pushchair when DS was 18 months or so as he just wouldn't fit and I was too tight to buy another one

Best buy for my DS was a Tuppence and Crumble star wrap. A much safer alternative to the puffy snow suits for the car seats etc and so soft, adorable and lasted ages!

My worst buy with DS was a tummy time playmate from Lamaze. It looked incredible, a little spinning ladybird on a mat of exciting things to look at that may encourage my tummy time hating infant to enjoy it. He would lie on the toy stiff as a plank for a few minutes before screaming blue murder. I gave the ruddy thing a go a couple of times a day before shoving it on eBay.
