I used to live in Germany and miss speaking German. I would love to start a German conversation group in Wimbledon. German native speakers would be very welcome as well.

It's great to see all the responses. I think food would be an integral part of any conversation group - think of all that Kaffee and Kuchen! I haven't made it yet to the German bakers in Ham but keep meaning to go -proper bread is one of the things I really miss from living in Germany.
If anyone is keen to join the conversation group just send me a message.

I will, Spargel, but I have to stump up my fiver to MN first - have been meaning to for ages but never got around to it. May not do that now till the weekend; but I think it's a really good idea Smile

You should Fauve, I have just done it and it was quite painless! I really think this conversation group is going to get off the ground - I should have posted a message before, I had no idea it would be so easy. I look forward to hearing from you.

wish it wouldn't take me so long to get to Wimbledon :)

Might have to start my 'own' German Convo Group Ealing ;)

I would be very interested in a German group in the Richmond/Wimbledon area as we are moving to Richmond next month. I have two children (4 and 2 years) and would love them to hear some German from other children.

The excellent German bakery/shop is in Ham and their website is www.backhaus.co.uk. They have an excellent selection of German breads, cakes, German (white) asparagus, sausages etc. etc. Well worth a visit!

Fauve · 09/06/2006 08:41

It's easy to get to Wimbledon from Richmond, annasmami. MrsBigD, we could have regional conventions of MN German conversation groups...

MrsBigD · 09/06/2006 11:09

good idea ... will try and get my carcass + kids to the German playgroup here in Ealing and see whether I can 'recruit' Grin

I'll make a note of the date. A meet in Richmond is easier for me to get to though

Hi there, just found an old issue of 'Freundin' at home if you want it It's a quite popluar mid-level woman's magazin, sort of a mix of Prima/She/New Woman.

Hi Spargel,

just wondering if you have set up a German conversation group in Wimbledon? I would be very interested in joining. I have got a one year old and would love him to hear other people talking German too. Please let me know.

Thanks.

I would be interested in joining a German group as well. I live in Richmond and have 2 children (4 and 2). Do you meet with your children? And if so, what ages are they?

Hi Pamina3,

thats great. Yes, definitely let me know when you plan to meet up. Do you know of any baby and toddler groups in the area? I know there is one in Richmond but that is quite far for me. Someone said there is one in a church in South Wimbledon?!

Thanks.
