When I picked her up and they told me I was upset I was not called. They blamed the heat and said tomorrow they will turn the air con on. Shes been throwing up since I got her home so I dont think its heat related like they said.

Am really annoyed I wasnt called to be informed she had vomitted (violently they said) 4 times.

What can I do? Should I have a word with the manager? I also dont like the fact they said they let her play in the direct sun for a while. Shes 20 months shouldnt be left in the direct sunlight. Could this be heat stroke?

NHS direct/out of hours GP time I'd have thought.

WRT the nursery what would you ahve done if you'd been called? Could you have left work to fetch her? What does your contract/their code of conduct type thing say about children becoming ill during the say?

Yes, you should have a word. What time did she start vomiting- was it close to pick up time anyway? If not then you should have been contacted. Ask to see their policy about illness.

I'm not sure about the direct sun though- did she have a hat, long sleeves and/or suncream? I wouldn't have a problem with toddlers being out if suitably protected from the sun, but only for short periods.

Yes I could've / would've left work to pick her up. She started vomitting at around 11am and 3 times after this, so plenty of time to call me as I pick her up at 5.30pm everyday.

She has a sun hat and sun cream which I provide in her changing bag, but the didnt use the hat.

My DD 2 reacts like this to the heat, and did so, violently, three times the other night ..... Obviously, I've not seen your DD, but she might well, too, and they are too young to make the decision themselves to come out of the heat. I am rather aghast that she didn't have her hat on, especially out in the hot sun. Actually, I judged it too hot for my DD to be out today and she had a cool nap instead. Is your daughter drinking enough?

Out in direct sunlight with no hat on in this weather = failing in their duty of care IMO. And not to inform you about the vomiting, when she still had hours to go until she was collected. Shock

I think the nursery acted very badly. I would be gutted to think of my 2 year old feeling poorly at nursery and wanting her mum/dad. I would make a very firm complaint.
