SLEEP HELP

Hi I'm needing some help on getting my 12minth old to sleep through the night in her cot. We have always had problems with sleep routines from day 1, however it has just gone from bad to worse. We are at the stage now and have been for the last few months where she will just not sleep in her cot! (We've made it hard for our sleeves by giving in and letting her in our bed) I really want to get her out of this habit and to sleep through the night in her own cot but just don't know where to start. Months back before we have in to her being in our bed we had a set routine like people say- tea, play, bath, bottle, quiet play then bed awake. As soon as she touches the mattress in her cot she cries n screams until she makes herself sick we have tried staying in the room but not picking her up just tapping her, we've tried 1 night of controlled crying however she never have in or settled from 7pm to 4am so felt it was far to mean to leave her in that state any longer. We've even tried holding her to sleep then putting her in the cot but soon as she hits the cot she screams .

Please help
Thanks x

How does she nap in the day? How about a co-sleeper attached to your bed? I know it might seem a step backwards but it could be a good compromise for you at the moment and then move forward from there. Could you borrow/hire one rather than buy?

When you put her down is it in your bed?

Could you try putting the cot mattress on the floor in her room? Or if you need to lie down with her, buy a single mattress and do that in her room, the use gradual withdrawal? I know she's only 12m but if its the cot that's the problem it may be worth a go. Obv with child proofing the room and stair gate on the door.

Maybe try for daytime naps first to get her used to it.

Was going to suggest a co sleeping cot too. You might want her to slep away from you but it seems like she has other ideas, ad this way you might all get some sleep Smile

Think waking in the night is pretty normal at 12 months too. Have you seen isis online? You might also like the book Sound Slep by Sarah Woodhouse Smile

Thanks guys! During the day she has 1 nap for around an hour mid morning, she used to have one in the afternoon but found stopping that nap helped a little. Hpsauceonbacombutties-we put her down every night in her cot but she never stays there longer then about half hour on a good night n then ends up straight in our bed . Could scream we want our bed back lol x
