Best disposable nappies?

DD arrived recently, and although DS isn't quite 5 I have forgotten everything I ever knew about baby supplies, I think!

So.... With DS we only ever used Pampers, I know there was a reason but I have no idea what it was. The own-brand nappies are lots cheaper. We're trying a couple of supermarket own brands at the mo, but does anyone have a recommendation for any particular one?

Would be grateful, I just don't remember Pampers being so expensive last time around!

Are kiddiecare the same ones as the Morrisons own brand, or are they different?

We've been using Asda ones today but having problems with leaky BF poo!

Aldi mama mia are our favourite. I hated Pampers, felt they had a chemical smell and hated the mesh inside them.

The Pampers one with the strip that goes blue when they've weed so I don't have to undo the nappy to know if I should change it because I'm incredibly lazy. :)

Lidl Toujours are without a doubt the best. Aldi come up small compared to lidl in the same size.

Lidl's also say 'Mumsnet best 2012' on them so what more proof do you need Grin

Asda aren't for us, leaky and not very dry. We got on quite well with the Morrisons ones though. Wondering where my nearest Lidl is....

It depends on the individual child. For our 17mo we've tried, aldi, Tesco, asda, Sainsburys, huggies, pampers baby dry & active fit.
Some people I know swear by asda's little angels, others by Tesco.
Out of the above the only one that ds doesn't leak out of. Are pampers active fit.
I'd say buy a small pack of all of them to try.

I expected lots from the Asda ones after hearing MN recommendations but we found them horrible. Chunky, stiff and somehow seem to get massive really quickly so I ended up changing them twice as often and negating the saving I made buying them in the first place.

Boots own are the same but worse, less absorbent and still big and bulky even before wet.

Sainsbury's not really much better than Asda, just seem to be so stiff which strikes me as uncomfortable between their poor soft squishy legs.

Pampers are great, never leak and seem to fit really well and appear comfortable, but of course they are expensive.

Top of the pile for us though is Tesco Loves Baby (purple pack, think they do others but not used them) they feel and fit just like Pampers Baby Dry but cost half as much. Again we've never had leakage problems and they are soft and thin enough not to get in the way when DD2 is moving about.

Oh gosh I've just written more about nappies in two minutes than I've managed about anything work related in about two hours... Confused

On Tescos today - think we might to be onto a winner here! They seem nice and soft on DD's botty and they actually feel dry when wet IYSWIM.
