Managing daytime with newborn and toddler - quick question

I was just wondering what setup people have for the daytime in terms of keeping the newborn safe from her sister. I'm due next week.

The Moses Basket doesn't seem like the safest option (!) so I was going to have a travel cot in the lounge for baby to sleep in, hopefully it is too deep for DD1 (23 months) to easily access. I'm not planning on ever leaving DD alone with her baby sister but you can never be too careful.

Does that seem reasonable? I'm not entirely sure that a travel cot is the best in terms of comfort for a baby but I can't think of anything else. What do you think?

I have baby in Moses basket or bouncy chair on kitchen table a lot of the time

I thought about travel cot downstairs but I don't trust my toddler not to fling something heavy into it

He has some naps in his cot upstairs, with monitor on obviously

in my opinion the question of where to put a small baby when there's a marauding toddler in the house is quite hard. Gets a bit easier at 3-4mths when baby can go in Jumperoo or door bouncer.

Travel cot and Highchair (for toddler). I didn't need to leave them alone much tbh when dd was a baby. I didn't leave my first alone much either.

My first was 16 months when my second arrives. I put baby in the corner tucked away safely and never left them alone. Yes toddler was curious but I taught him to look and not touch.

A bouncy chair is good for short periods when you need to move around house.

Stretchy wrap for baby - then none of the worry about leaving them with the toddler etc.

I have a crib downstairs, it's not as big as the cot upstairs. I don't like Moses baskets. The crib is quite high and means that DD 2.5 doesn't squish 6 week old DS. She likes to climb into his swing chair with him Shock we have put a stop to that. If we had space I'd get a travel cot or baby dan playpen

I'm still carrying my 14wo round most of the time, as his 2.7yo brother is rather unpredictable and the baby refuses to be put down to nap ever.

We had a crib in the corner. But still had to watch all the time. In a carrycot in the same room as me was best option.

Moses basket here but in a corner out of the way. DS1 wasn't interested in DS2 much

Good idea about the bouncy chair on the table, I shall do that.

I'm hoping that the novelty of having a sister will wear off after a while [I know I'm dreaming emoticon]

My 2.5 year old ds is fine around baby dd, won't go near her without asking first. If he does want to touch her it's to gently wipe her face or to give hera toy - it's very sweet! We just ensured from day one that he learned to be gentle with her. We have cats so he learned to be gentle with them before dd arrived.

Baby naps in pram in hall but apart from that she's in a bouncy chair/ reclining high chair/ on play mat. 3yo actually loves it when baby (14weeks) is lying or sitting nearby while she's playing or watching TV. I think she pretends she's joining in. Baby is usually entertained by her big sister's antics and rarely cries because of it. I actually think it's easier with 2 of them. That being said I never leave them alone for l

*long (sorry pressed post too soon lol)

Sling then playpen or travel cot and when the toddlers interest fades then u can use a bassinet off the pram on the floorWink
