Toddler carrier

My 22 month old isnt walking yet but we'd love to go for nice country walks with her.

Does anyone carry their toddler on their back for walks and can you recommend a good carrier? Can you actually walk far with that much weight on your back?

Thanks :)

I still use my Connector for my 22 month old.

Find yourself a sling library in the area, normally NCT run one in most counties, you can try a few out before you purchase.

I was carrying dd in her Ergo til she was gone 2, and only stopped because of being pregnant again and not wanting the waist strap tight around me. Both of us really miss it! At about 22mo we did a day of walking in the malverns, just me and her, and managed fine with no back ache. The ergo itself is very lightweight, holds the toddler close to you and puts the weight on your hips rather than shoulders. There are quite a few similar toddler carriers out there - a friend has a Patapum which she loves too. We used our carrier a lot, when dd started walking it was great as I had hands free to keep her out of trouble and could just put her on my back when she was tired.

Toddler Tula, rose and rebellion, ergo etc all good makes (do toddler versions) and carry in the knee to knee position which is important. I use a toddler Tula and my DD is nearly 2 and weighs over 2.7 stone :) Wink

Totally possible to carry a toddler. I've just hired a toddler Tula and used it for the first time this weekend. It is really comfortable and my DS loved it.

Check out the Facebook sling groups for advice, and if you're nowhere near a sling library, some of them do postal hires- that's how I got mine.
Enjoy! Smile
