cloth nappies at night - help!

Ds is 15 months; he wears tots / bamboozles and ME popper wraps in the day. At night he wears a Tescos disposable, because the cot kept getting wet and we were too tired to find a solution. Feel ready to tackle it now though. What are the best night-nappies? Other than sticking 3 boosters in the tots?

Men! My dh is very happy to change a nappy but always asks if there is an "easy" one available - ie. a pocket nappy with aplix. He seems to have a mental block when it comes to popper s or nippas!

I've had your CAT fruitful - will send the Huggle if you let me have your address.

Have just ordered a new wool wrap - a puddlepants couche wrap. Cheaper than the Woollywraps - looking forward to seeing how it will perform.

SoupDragon · 30/05/2006 16:02

It's not like the BunGenius is any different froma disposable is it??!

BonyM · 30/05/2006 16:09

Nope. But then men are funny creatures. Have you shown him "what to do with it" yet? Grin

Kind of. I pointed out that it wasn't exactly rocket science...

MrsDoolittle · 31/05/2006 20:40

Has anyone tried a Stacinator fleece wrap. I have one on dd, I really like it.

I'm completely sold on my BumGenius. However, I have always (2 years)and will continue to use a bumble nappy and boost it with microfibre for night time.
If that doesn't work anymore I shall buy a huggle.

BonyM · 31/05/2006 21:28

I've heard the Stacinator wraps are really good but not tried one, almost ordered one of their wool wraps the other day.

I've just ordered a couche wool wrap from Puddlepants - not sure how it will be, it was a fair bit cheaper than the Woollywrap that I have so hope the price is no reflection on performance/quality.

BonyM · 01/06/2006 22:13

fruitful - did the Huggle arrive?

Bagpuss30 · 02/06/2006 08:50

I have a stacinator fleece wrap. Its OK but I don't use it very often as it has a fabric fault in the crotch area and it annoys me. I fell out massively with the nappy seller I bought it from as she wouldn't exchange it despite the fault - even the lady that runs stacinator/happy heineys wouldn't take it back so it has put me off trying any more of their stuff just in case it is faulty!

I am interested in wool though. BonyM is the woolywrap the best? I keep looking at them but am wondering if I might start with something cheaper like a disana or popolini instead.

peanutbutter · 02/06/2006 09:25

I reluctantly ended up putting ds into disps for nighttime too. The only cloth nappy that was absorbent enought for his huge output was the Huggle with a booster inserted but I couldn't button his vests over them (and that length of time in cloth exacerbated the eczema on his thighs). If anyone's interested, i have 2 Huggles i can sell on that have literally been used and washed only 2-3 times each. They're both blue - one small (10-20lb) and one large (17-32lb). I've also got 3 large PUL stacinators.

Boosted Bamboozle or Fluffle with fleece or wool cover is a pretty sure bet. Even for a baby that threatens to outwee disposables.

FlameBoo · 02/06/2006 10:04

I'm finding (since trying out fleece) that a boosted bamboozle is better than a boosted fluffle (and smells better).

My woollywrap arrived this morning. I went for those over the other kind purely because I and friends with a friend of the maker (and sort of know her myself through a nappy forum).

BonyM · 02/06/2006 10:19

Bagpuss - I haven't tried any other wool wraps yet (although havea Puddlepants Couche wrap drying on the line at the moment which arrived yesterday!)

The woollywraps is fab though - I've never had any wetness leak through and it's really easy to use as just pulls on like a pair of pants. Nice soft wool as well.

Am going to try the Couche wrap tonight so will report back!

Bagpuss30 · 02/06/2006 10:43

Thanks BonyM. I am so tempted by the Wollywrap but £18 Shock. At least I could sort of justify the disana or the popolini to dh but they just don't look as exciting. I have just bought two new tots wraps for the summer to show off with just a t-shirt and I dread to think how many other small purchases I have made and what I have spent. Still, tempting though.....

vkone · 02/06/2006 19:35

I just bought a Disana (actually two by mistake Blush) and it's lovely, like a really nice woolly jumper, I wish they did longies as they'd be fab for winter.

I'm abit wary of using my woollywrap at night, it's alot damper in the mornings than the felted wraps despite having lanolised it 4 times. Is this normal, I think it would be alright in summer with just a t-shirt but at the moment DS is wearing his big PJs and I worry they'll leak.

MrsDoolittle · 02/06/2006 20:02

peanutbutter -I am interested in your huggles. Ds is a heavy wetter at night.

BonyM · 03/06/2006 06:45

Well, used the \link{http://www.puddlepants.co.uk/couche_covers.php\Couche wrap} for the first time last night and am impressed. Good fit, soft fabric, and no leaks or dampness after 12hrs. Fair bit cheaper than the Woolly wrap as well if you go for the plain colours. It's a slimmer fit than the Woollywrap and much more attractive than the disana - I'd give one a go if I were you Bagpuss.

I fancy a tie-dye one for the hot summer days now...Grin

FlameBoo · 03/06/2006 12:32

Oooh, I know (online) the woman who runs puddlepants Grin

Must stop buying wraps...

Someone please tell me that I don't need one of those too.....

BonyM · 03/06/2006 17:08

You do need one - they're lovely Wink.

peanutbutter · 03/06/2006 18:24

MrsDoolittle, do you want to CAT me?

FlameBoo · 03/06/2006 19:24

Hmmmmmmm....

Starting a new thread too, but if you're about...

Woollywrap was soaked in lanolin, line dried all day in wind and sun, but still feels really sticky... have I done something wrong??? :(

fruitful · 03/06/2006 19:30

BonyM - huggle arrived and is on ds right now, thankyou! Just about fits under the wrap. Sumo-wrestler-baby! I've also got a wool wrap to try, but thought I wouldn't try both in one night...

OP posts:
BonyM · 03/06/2006 21:57

Flame - my woollywrap does sometimes feel a little bit sticky, but not much tbh. Did you rinse in cold water after you'd soaked? Maybe you used too much lanolin? Try rinsing in cold water and drying againn.

Fruitful - hope the Huggle performs well tonight Smile.

FlameBoo · 05/06/2006 09:42

Used it last night - much less sticky, and DS has a lovely soft belly Grin. No dampness at all - I'm soooo impressed!

Oh, and bumgenius success too Grin

expatinscotland · 05/06/2006 09:45

I want that couche wrap!

DD2 goes in her Bamboozle at night. Damn, that thing just gets better and better the more it's washed!

I don't really have to booster it up, but I still do for some reason.

Bagpuss30 · 05/06/2006 09:58

BonyM, Couche wrap looks lovely - I now want that as well as all the others Grin.
