I know it will pass but god I feel like a murderer just trying to put a load of washing on

DS3 was ghastly. Remember, this too shall pass (and all too quickly, with third child blink and you've missed it).

Enid · 26/05/2006 11:11

do you just leave them to cry?

I mean I have to sometimes (eg making dd1 and 2 food)

feel awful doing it though

I actually took a picture of ds at this age giving it full throttle, purple with rage. His mouth was so far open you could practically see his breakfast.
He had the grace to look sheepish when I confronted him with the evidence the other day.
Are you implacably against slings etc enid?

LOL...I can remeber saying just load enough for the nieghbours to hear in the garden "Anyone would think I was trying to murder you"
when ds3 was screaming at full volume.

have to just say how jealous I am that you are hanging washing out....it's rain rain rain here and my washing pile is taking over the house.

dinosaure · 26/05/2006 11:13

I did indeed find that sometimes there was no other way. DS1 and DS2 got quite good at entertaining him when he was in his bouncy cradle. And I did carry him in the sling a lot.

expatinscotland · 26/05/2006 11:14

dd2 lived in her sling at that age. i got a 'coorie' one and MN'd to my heart's content w/her in it.

expatinscotland · 26/05/2006 11:14

she also loves her wilkinet.

Enid · 26/05/2006 11:15

the wilkinet is unacceptable apparently

being carried in mums arms while mum actually makes eye contact is the only thing this season

oh hell, i remember all that! we lived in a 3 storey house and i used to put ds1 in his cot (well, i say 'put', i actually mean practically throw!) on the top floor and go to the ground floor and have coffee with the radio turned on full blast.

it was either that or i'd have killed the bugger!

deep breath Enid. xx

Marina · 26/05/2006 11:17

I'd be so tempted to attach her to the fridge at eye level with strong magnets and see how she liked that

morningpaper · 26/05/2006 11:17

this too shall pass

not fcking quickly enough though, I agree

When she can sit up it will make a HUGE difference

Only another six months or so Grin

expatinscotland · 26/05/2006 11:18

how about bouncy chair in the kitchen. pop in a load of washing. turn on.

worked for dd1, but not dd2.

arfy · 26/05/2006 11:21

yes DD hated her sling too and was only interested in being held by me all day (and night) with all attention on her - nothing else

you're bound to feel bad but the other 2 need you too, the baby will be fine. it is grim though I agree

honeybunny · 26/05/2006 14:04

:(

Don't have too much advise to offer as none of mine were really like it but how about some distraction. Dangly bright moving things - I had a dangly twizling thing hanging from the ceiling over dds bouncy chair, she'd sit glued to that. Got ds 1+2 to dangle musical things with lights on pre-meal times when I was doing food prep etc. Got them to try a dummy for a while to see if that would hush the tears. Kept them busy and dd somewhat amused altho she never took to it, but it got us through some stressful times around the 4-8week period.

Sorry, not much help, hope things settle soon.

moondog · 26/05/2006 14:08

Vibrating chair from Mama and Papas worked beautifully with ds Enid.
had to put him down.
Was moving house (alone!) when he was 4 weeks old!

fruitful · 26/05/2006 14:24

Graco swing.

Or the tv on but with the freeview box off, so you just get "snow".

honeybunny · 26/05/2006 18:17

Ooooh yes, I borrowed one of these for a few weeks which did help with dd. It didnt vibrate though, that sounds groovey!

emkana · 26/05/2006 19:40

Are they upright in the Wilkinet?
Maybe she would prefer a ring sling where she could be sort of lying down and gazing at you.
