inflatable booster seat for holiday? any feedback?

We are off to France for a week, and I intend to book a taxi for a short transfer from the airport to our destination - about 15 minutes. I will attempt to book a child's car seat but I know before when I've tried this that the seat can be non-existant, in a terrible state or the wrong size....

I was thinking of also taking with me one of those inflatable booster seats as an emergency stop gap - I'm thinking it would be better than carrying daughter on my knee. THe thing is, she is just under the recommended weight/height for them - but she has a long body and short legs(!)

Does anyone have any experience of this? Please, I know some of you will be horrified and feel very strongly about car safety, I'm not asking for those comments. I'm just wondering if anyone who uses the booster seats thinks it could make do for a short journey if the taxi turns up without a seat, or if there's a good reason why it would absolutely not work - no point in buying the thing if it won't work.

Thanks in advance.

Have you thought about a trunki boostapak ours id great for short journeys

dd had one a couple of years back . It worked fine but she was well within the guidelines for use (aged 9 ish). It isn't as stable as a regular booster so would imagine perhaps not substantial enough for a lighter child and the seatbelt guides may not suit. The cover came apart at the seam after a week's use too.

Yes, have been comparing the trunki and the bubblebum, and from reading stuff on the web am wondering if the trunki one, while bulkier, is better for smaller children. If anyone has one would be helpful to know if you agree.

Someone needs to come up with a really good portable solution for children who are out of the baby rear facing car seats but not yet in the 15kg plus age bracket....any entrepreneurs out there?

Dd has an allergy requiring epi pens. I think the trunki is great because we can put a change of clothes her allergy medication and a couple of toys or books for the journey and keep all together. Best buy for us as we have had a few weddings and big birthdays to go to this year.
