I'm thinking a play house after seeing how much DS loves his at his grandparent's house.

What are your recommendations?

A swing

Pascha · 31/05/2013 09:01

DS wants a climbing frame/fort/slide thing. How much do you want to pay?

notcitrus · 31/05/2013 09:04

Toddler fort/slide. Thought kids would soon outgrow it but it's still used as a castle/ship/den even though the 5yo can get up it with one step.

House led to slammed doors and tears.

Our playhouse was used for storage after just one year. We have just ordered a wood swing, seesaw and climbing set after seeing how a friends was used by children of all ages.

memphis83 · 31/05/2013 09:10

Our playhouse was played with for one summer then never got looked at.
Ds loves the trampoline, only a 5 ft one though.

Pascha · 31/05/2013 09:12

notcitrus where did you get yours from? Would you recommend them?

PuppyMonkey · 31/05/2013 09:15

Our playhouse was used for a week before DDs realised it was always full of spiders and refused to go in. It's got wood in now.

Trampoline our best investment.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/05/2013 09:16

Swing. If we had more room I would have had one of the climbing frame / slide/ fort / swing combos. Swing gets used more than the trampoline. Our playhouse has only ever had intermittent use and was outgrown rapidly, wish we had bought a taller one.

Also football goals get used endlessly.

capercaillie · 31/05/2013 09:17

Sand pit.

We have a climbing frame, slide and playhouse. The children (aged 6 and 3) spend most of their time in their sand pit

3nationsfamily · 31/05/2013 09:19

Trampoline- has evolved as they have got older into a private den (mesh surround gives illusion of privacy)

PattieOfurniture · 31/05/2013 09:21

Yes to football goals and trampoline.
We recently bought a little tikes tropical playground, which I'm hoping will get more use as ds2 gets older. Although ds1 isn't too big for it, he's not interested.

Lioninthesun · 31/05/2013 09:22

We have swings, a slide a sandpit and a seesaw. Seesaw is getting a lot of action so far this year and the swing is always in demand.

nipersvest · 31/05/2013 09:23

in our house, best things have been, trampoline, sand pit and the badminton set. ours are a little older now so rather than replace the trampoline, we've just got giant jenga so the adults can play too!

Bluebell99 · 31/05/2013 09:26

Trampoline, no question. They used it nearly every day for years.

Scruffey · 31/05/2013 09:34

Water table. Kids love pouring water down plastic wheels and floating boats in it. Am thinking of getting trampoline.

NeverendingStoryteller · 31/05/2013 11:40

A £12 piece of thick rope tied around a tree branch. It amuses small child for hours (swinging, climbing and fighting) and also amuses dogs and tipsy adults. Bargain.

BeauNidle · 31/05/2013 11:42

Trampoline. If you get one, invest in the best you can afford. Mine had it from a young age (around 5) and continued to use it up into their teens for camping under the stars and chilling out on with their friends.

Shesparkles · 31/05/2013 11:44

Trampoline. Ds had it for his 3rd birthday, he just turned 11 and has been on it almost every day since he got it.
It's also great for lazing about on in the sun while he's at school [basks] Grin

Lancelottie · 31/05/2013 11:45

I was going to say badminton net but see someone has beaten me to it.

(Actually ours isn't a net, it's a piece of string between two garden canes, but we did buy (cheap) rackets rather than making them hit snails with sticks or something really hardcore...)

For smaller children, definitely the sandpit. Ours was a moulded one so you could fill the lid with water and drowned worms and the other half with sand.

flatmum · 31/05/2013 11:46

Large trampoline, without a question. Mine would live on it if they could.

Lancelottie · 31/05/2013 11:46

Climbing frame was great but did cause two broken limbs, whereas we've only had one broken leg on the trampoline and none in the sandpit (wibble)

haggisaggis · 31/05/2013 12:02

It changed as they got older:
Up to about 3 - sandpit ( we had a huge one that ds's trucks etc could go in)
4 to around 8 - climbing frame / slide combo
7 to current (ages 10 and 13) trampoline
Swing used at all ages - have moved house now and got a swing hanging from a tree branch and an old buoy hanging from another branch - both get a lot of swinging use!

This www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00B1FEK8Q but we didn't pay that much.

Also a sandpit for when DCs are under three.
