Stupid question about reusable nappies and poo!

So I have been doing a fair bit of research into real nappies and will definitely be using them. However I just can't figure out what you do with the poo! Obviously with a flushable liner it goes down the loo but what if you use a reusable liner? Isn't the poo all stuck to the liner? Do you have to wash it down the sink with a running tap? Doesn't that lead to clogged up pipes? What about in a public loo - don't people get upset at you washing poo into a sink?

Sorry if I am being dense but I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere so not sure how it works!

Initially, you don't do anything about the poo. Milk poo is not offensive and not solid so just pop the nappies straight into the wash.

After weaning (another reason to wait till 26 weeks) the poo is more solid and you can either use flushable liners (we do) but it will 'roll' off the reusable liners with little encouragement.

I used flushable liners first time round as DS1 had very sloppy poo (tmi!) but with my DT's I'm now using washable liners as theirs is more solid and I can just shake it into the loo. If it is a bit sloppy I wipe it off with toilet roll. HTH

Washable liners here. Have never rinsed poo into the sink! I just flush the poo off the liner, usually comes off no problem.

Ok this is making more sense now!

weebara - do you just hold the liner in the toilet and flush?

just drop the poo into the loo. sometimes it needs a scrape so we have a dedicated poo scraper knife in the bathroom. when we are out we decide whether to take our poo with us home or drop it off, depends on convenience. we have never yet found one in the washing machine Grin

also there is a period in early weaning when they need a good scrape but most just plop off now, like fully formed logs (or pancakes if she's been sitting in them Smile )

If you use bambinex flushable nappies you can wash them if they are just wet and flush them if they are pooey.

They are more expensive but better value for money
