Hi, my daughter has recently has insoles in her shoes, as she has one foot that rolls in and the other one rolls out. One of her leg bones is shorter than the other and twisted.
Anyway, she has such wide feet, one is a G and the other an H. With her insoles, we can't get shoes to fit her. She's always had start-rite, but she's tried all the styles and in order to get enough width, they are far too long.
There is a Conker shop quite neer to us that make shoes. The only thing is, the sole is compleatly flexable and there are no heel stiffeners etc. Would these be o.k with her insoles? Or would she be better off if we could find something in Clarks maybe?
I wasn't sure where to post this, but hopefully someone could advise me. thank you. Smile

I am not sure about the exact width, although they are on the wide side, but Ricosta are a very good make, and you can take out their own insoles to replace with your own. You can find them in independent shoe shops. Clarks are not supportive enough for DS IME.

If she has special insoles then taking the one that comes in the shoes out might help. We struggled to find shoes to fit over ds's afos until we did this - shoe shops might not like you doing it before you buy though!! We went to an independent shop who were very helpful.
Otherwise who prescribed the insoles - ask them if they have any ideas. (for instance we were told that afos provided all the necessary support themselves.so the shoes didn't need to be very supportive).

I didn't know the insoles could come out! Fantastic! I'll see if they do in the Start-rites she has now. If they could be made to fit her insoles, that would be fantastic. Smile

I've got the shoes insoles out, then realised they had a metal bar going through, so I've re-stuck it with no more nails. I'm hoping that they'll now fit her. If not, I've compleatly buggered up her shoes. Shock
She'll have to wear pumps to school until her new ones are made. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'll let you know tomorrow weather or not it's worked. Smile

Oh that sounds a bit drastic - the ones in ds's shoes just lifted out!!

He currently has orthopaedic boots (piedros) with moulded insoles, so we are spared the problem. At one point he was in a 1.5 for his feet but the smallest shoe we could get over the afos was a 6!!

It was a bit, but after I realised it was all attatched it was too late. They do now fit, but only just. They are still very tight on one foot. I think they'll do until we have her shoes made, which will take 2 weeks. If she says they hurt, then I'll let her wear her pumps to school for the 2 weeks.
What a nightmare it all is! We were never offered the boots. It would've saved a fortune! Oh well.

I'll have a look at the recosta too. We've had them before, but in boots. Smile
