Is 8 months too young to start learning the word 'No!'

DS is almost 8 months. He has started biting. I know he is too young to know what he is doing, and its not intentional (I hope!). It's more he is experimenting putting things in his mouth, and he just bites down at the same time. I've been saying a sharp 'no biting' to him, and putting him back on the floor when he does it, and told my family to do the same. Is this the right approach to have, baring in mind how young he is?

I would say it's ok to start learning. I would say no and remove from the situation, only so that the association begins to be made between the word 'no' and the behaviour stopping. Personally I just wouldn't say it very harshly or like I was telling off or with lots of hurt emotion in my voice, just a gentle 'no' and remove. I'M NOT AN EXPERT THOUGH, and am interested to hear what others think.

Hey this might help. It's a great website for all parenting advice. Really gentle. I had this problem with my dd but she seemed to grow out of it. I was breastfeeding too.
