i am just a bit worried as recently cannot put DS down for nap..he wakes up straight away unless i hold him or he is in pram.
i hate letting him cry and pick him up as soon as i can...as a resiult he is vasically aytached to me most of the day. he is a very cheerful soul otherwise and great fun.
i also cosleep aftee about 10pm as he wakes so often in his cot. otherwise i would get zero sleep. he does sort of snack all night as a result.
am i setting myself up for disaster?
i want my beautiful boy to be happy and content but worried he may become clingy?
as u can tell am first time mom and want to di everything right and therefore worrying!!!!

You can't spoil a 5 month old baby by picking it up or any other way.

Pick him up. All the time. Heck, buy a sling and never put him down!

I personally do not think you are, my son is 3 now and the time has flown by. He was very clingy at that age and went through a phase of not sleeping unless he was held, I made the most of my Ergo and carried him while I got on with other jobs.
As he gets older you will feel more able to help him sleep on his own but there is no rush. The no cry sleep solution is a nice read and lots of helpful tips, but the main thing I got out of it was that if it is not an issue for you then that is fine. Also Dr Sears website has info on about sleeping.
There is some fact which says that babies do not learn behaviours until 6 months, I think it is probably a bit later and so long as you and your son are happy then you are doing the best thing for you.
Enjoy all the cuddles, time goes too fast.

Nope, you carry on as you are. He'll change so much over the next few months and years, so just do what you need to do to get through the current phase.

Make the most of it and enjoy the cuddles - before you know it, you'll be chasing after him as he disappears over the horizon!

No, it'll be fine, as long as you yourself feel ok and are getting enough rest. He'll grow out of it in time.

thank u guys so much. i feel the se but you just need that reassurance sometimes. esp. when all other mums i know have amazing napping babies and ones who sleep for hours in night in their cot!!! xx

Do whatever makes your life easiest at this stage! There is absolutely nothing wrong with lots of cuddles if that's what your instincts are telling you to do (equally, there's lots of good advice about encouraging babies to have naps in their cots if that's what you want). Don't worry about spoiling him or getting into bad habits, plenty of time to change your routine as he gets older if you need to.
