I thought it might be fun to discuss what you were told by your parents and what you have told your children! For us the crisis point was 'and how does the seed get into mummy's tummy?' Over to you!!

Rhiannon - I think I can help you out with your dilemma, courtesy of late Friday evening TV on Channel 4. Did anyone else watch 'Around the world in 80 raves'? - you might wish you had after I've finished my piece. Anyway, the young people on the programme were basically shagging and boozing their way across America in a mobile house (it's alright for some!) and they stopped in San Francisco (where else!) and visited a specialist 'gay' shop full of things that you wouldn't even imagine in your wildest dreams. The owner of the shop told them that gay men let other gay men know their 'preferences' by hanging different coloured handkerchiefs out of the back pockets of their trousers. Also, it makes a difference as to which pocket, left or right, the hankys are put in. So now you know. I firmly believe that you can find out all you need to know to help you through life by watching late night TV on Ch4 and Ch5 - and if not you get a b**y good laugh. Is anyone feeling brave enough to watch 'Designer Vaginas' on TV tomorrow night?

Oow err, don't think I've seen many men with hankies in their pockets. You could create havoc in a club changing them all round though! Will look out for programme tomorrow. R

Don't know how true this one still is due to the popularity of piercing - but in the 80's if a man wore an earring in the right ear he was gay, left ear, straight.

Lacroix, dahlink, lacroix!! (designer vaginas!) But is less, more? Thinking of the waving a wand in the albert hall joke!

Kia - you're exactly right. Apparently it's on the increase, especially in post-natal women who aren't impressed by the extra 'room' shall we say!

It's bad enough answering my husband's!! Sorry, that's not helpful, but you know what I mean!

Batters, the Babette Cole book Mummy laid an Egg is great, highly recommended... and for older children she wrote a book called hair in funny places which is brilliant too. Clare Raynor did a book about the life cycle and the body which is good but the Babette Cole books are just funny which always helps.

Our dd has just started asking these question too, but must tell you last night she asked why mummies have babies and not daddies. When I asked what she thought she said its because daddies drink all the beer!!
