Is it chicken pox??

Hi
This will sound silly but I'm unsure if my 3yr ds has chickenpox or not.
He's been a bit under the weather last week, nothing major just snotty and a bit off his food, but still full of energy and going to preschool fine. On Friday evening I was stroking his back and felt two spots on his shoulder blade. Looked a bit blister like but he hasn't mentioned them and isn't bothered at all by them. I thought if it was cpox then on sat or at least today he'd have more.
But he has 1 red spot on his hip and just found a crusty one in his hair.
Is it chicken pox or not? My dd is 6 and hasn't had it yet either so im not 100% what I'm looking for Confused
Is it possible to get it without any real symptoms and a few spots??
I need to go to work tomorrow and not sure whether to take ds to my mums as usual as my nephew will be there and he's only 13mths old!!

Yes, very possible it's pox. Lots of kids have it very mildly. If the spots are blistering (with fluid in) that then crust over, it's definitely pox. Unfortunately if they have it mildly they are more likely to have it again.

NHS rash picture here.

I think you should maybe speak to your nephews parents before taking him.

Thank you. Think it is chicken pox as he's now got a couple more spots. Hoping its just a mild case though.

Hello i'v just found that my little boys playmate has got chickenpox, they were together yesterday & wondered does anyone know the incubation period for cpox. I'm expecting that he will get it as they were kissing & cuddling, he's 3, & he hasn't had it yet, but wondered when to expect it? Someone has told me about 10 days to 2 weeks but does anyone know?

7-21 days perky, but most commonly 10-14 days. And infectious from about 2 days before rash comes out. You can catch it from 20 mins just in the same room, so looks v likely your DS has had big exposure.

Having said that my DS hasn't had it yet despite 2 bouts through nursery. So you may get lucky. I'd quite like DS to get it over and done with now tbh.
