Can anyone recommend a baby wash?

Wasn't sure where to post this as it's not a biggie but would like some suggestions none the less.

I have been using Johnsons top to toe baby wash to give my 15wk old DS his bath. I've noticed that he is developing dry patches on his chest and neck.

Can anyone suggest a body wash that doesn't dry a babies skin and smells lovely?

Thanks for your help in advance.

We use baby bees the baby version of burts bees from boots. Expensive but it smells gorgeous and is very moisturising. You only need a teeny bit too.

Johnsons is awful on baby skin, really drying.

If your baby has eczema, go to the GP and you can get bath stuff prescribed (which is free).

Otherwise I really like Oilatum Junior and E45.

(Burts Bees is nice too though!)

Body Shop's Buriti Baby range. Find it's gentle and smells lovely.

We used to get oilatum on prescription for our little man as he had dry skin (not overly dry ie cracks etc, just felt dry). He used it until he was about 1, then we went back to johnsons for a few months, now use little angels from asda. He's 19 months now and no problems.

Another vote for Burt's bees I love it. Dd1 is quite robust but dd2 looks like an angry tomato if I use anything else Smile

Yes, burts bees here too. Lovely stuff and though expensive it lasts for ages.

BrownEyedGirl32 · 16/03/2013 16:46

Thanks for all your suggestions. Burts Bees seems to be the favourite so I have ordered for him.

Noticed more dry skin today so have stopped the Johnsons. Doesn't look like eczema but since both mum and dad suffer from it I am keeping an eye on things.

Thanks again Smile

YOu can also try Halo n Horns. No parabens SLS etc.

Losingexcessweight · 16/03/2013 17:53

I found baby johnsons very drying on my dd skin, I use pears soap, never had a problem with it

FamiliesShareGerms · 16/03/2013 17:56

Johnsons Naturals works wonders for DD's dry patches

ThreeWheelsGood · 16/03/2013 21:18

We use cussons "mum and me" which smells lovely. Only bought it as it was half price in Boots, worth it!

After the bath we massage in olive oil, no more dry skin.

Exhaustipated · 16/03/2013 21:45

We've tried lots and find this Weleda one by far the best for our baby and toddler. Never results in dry skin (as happened with other products), lovely smell. Just in case the Burts Bees doesn't work out :)

Obtangle · 16/03/2013 21:47

You can use just water - you don't need to use soap.

LadyWidmerpool · 16/03/2013 21:48

I think plain water is recommended for babies.

Another vote for just water.

oneandnomore · 16/03/2013 22:02

DD is seven and still has sensitive, dry skin. I use either the Little Me or Cussons Mum and Me bath milk, and Halo and Horns body wash.
When she was tiny, I just used the bath milk.

Its the SLS and parabens that can aggravate sensitive skin, so even when a range says it is suitable for sensitive skin, if the products contain these, then they can still cause dry skin.

That said, Boots do a sensitive baby range which has parabens, but the dry skin cream and lotion don't aggravate DD's skin, and I use the lotion after her bath, and the cream when she her skin is very dry.

Another vote for burt bees and body shop buriti, I use both of these and always have comments on how lovely my baby smells and no problems with dry skin. The body shop shampoo is good if your DC has lots of hair.
