...loo?

I took dd1 to a b'day party - there was another little girl there whose mum had left her (which is fair enough, I would go if dd let me [sigh]). The girls are all around five.

When this girl needed the toilet she asked me to go with her (this was at a community centre) - no problem, but then she had to do a, ahem, poo, and I ended up cleaning her up as well. Felt very strange to do it for a child which was not mine!
Was also v. intrigued at the differences in cleaning techniques that seem to exist. Grin

motherinferior · 06/05/2006 19:23

The first time I met Edam, about two years ago, she took DD1, who decided to do a massive poo Blush

no, thank god.

i wouldn't know where to start...plus i'd be terrified of someone walking in and thinking something terrible

(is that terrible?)

I hate other children's poo, even close friends kids i hate doing when I've had to.

Pinotmum · 06/05/2006 19:27

I've wiped many a bot as I work in a pre-school - not my fave part of the job I must admit.

Norah · 06/05/2006 19:27

Oh I'm not bothered really - if they've gotta go they've gotta go - shit happens !!! LOL !

WigWamBam · 06/05/2006 19:31

I'm with norah - if they've got to go then they've got to go, and I would hate to think that my dd might need help with something like that and not get it.

Bozza · 06/05/2006 19:33

Well yes I have with several of my friend's children when I have been looking after them. Either at home or at soft play type places. Obviously not pleasant but I just get on with it.

cataloguequeen · 06/05/2006 19:33

Lol.. Norah doesn't bother me either.. children have no shame they just need the nearest adult

but then I did work in a preschool maybe I'm just used to it??!!Smile

Norah · 06/05/2006 19:49

It's like nappies isn't it ? And runny noses too - changed one/wiped one and you've seen them all !

Can't imagine anyone would suspect anything dodgy with a mummy helping another small child either ? I would just be glad dd was getting the help she needed !

Looked after my bf's ds for the day once. We have two dds and I was totally freaked when he wanted to go to the loo... Had no idea whether little boys stood up or sat down to wee and whether I'd have to, ahem, handle anything, help him aim...????? (I sound really ignorant, don't I? Blush But boys are a total unknown to me.) Thankfully, he insisted that he could go by himself and that his mum normally just stood outside the door... PHEW!

Ellbell · 06/05/2006 20:09

Actually, poo would have freaked me out less and wee in this case, because at least the apparatus is the same iykwim.

I have also taken my uncle (well, 2nd cousin really, but same age as my parents...) who had Down's Syndrome to the toilet and wiped his bum. Poo is poo is poo at the end of the day... With my friend's ds is was the whole 'willy' thing that worried me! LOL!

Ellbell · 06/05/2006 20:10

less than wee..., I mean...

hulababy · 06/05/2006 20:16

Yes I have and, although not my favourite job, I just get on with it now. The things you do when parents eh?! LOL!

Ironmaiden · 08/05/2006 13:56

Other kid's poo smells horrible! I know your own child's bum hardly smells of roses but it's acceptable cos it's YOIUR child! Don't think I could be comfortable dealing with other kid's functions!
