could this be a bladder/urine infection?

Dd is 2.5yrs, been toilet trained for 4 months... had a few accidens in the first few weeks and not many since, maybe 3. Yesterday she had 3 wee accidents and today has had 6 so far. She wees in her undies before she asks to go to the toilet then does the rest in the toilet. Seems very odd to me... could she have a bladder/urine infection?

Just thought I'd mail some support, as you have had no feedback as yet!! My DD is now 3yrs, was toilet trained at 2 and went a good 6mnths with no problems. Since then we have had between 3-10 accidents everyday. It is so frustrating and I really feel for you. My doctor ruled out urine infection, and has now referred us to hospital for tests. I am absolutely dreading this as I am not even sure whether there is a problem or whether she is just being lazy!!!
Not much help I know, but thought you would like to know there are others in the same boat too. XX

My dd has the same symptoms. Fine for several months after the start of potty training and then about a week and half ago started doing a little bit of wee in her pants before asking to go to the toilet (sometimes only enough to just wet the pants and not the trousers). It is damaging her confidence as she seems unaware of whether her pants will be wet or dry until she checks them and we have had some more substantial accidents this weekend. She is currently being checked for a bladder infection. In the meanwhile though I was wondering if either of you has made any progress?

she could possibly had an infection - in that she has the overwhelming urge to wee and jsut can't make it in time....

any change??

Sorry, big delay since last message.

Bladder infection was ruled out and situation continued for about 3 weeks with no improvement.

After that I went to talk to my health visitor. She suggested that dd was trying too hard!! Not something I read about anywhere else I must admit but apparently it can happen. This would explain the increased frequency of her wees as she was becoming a bit paranoid. Also if you think about needing to wee all day and are constantly tensing and relaxing the relevant muscles apparently wetting yourself is almost inevitable (I decided not to try it myself!) Suggested solution was to put dd back into pull-ups or nappies for 4-8 weeks, remove all incentives like sticker charts etc. (as these only raise the stakes and increase the pressure) and then try again.

I can't let anyone know if it worked yet as we are only on week 2 of pull-ups. DD is determined not to go back to nappies and although I have explained that she can wee in her nappy if she wants, she can not bring herself to do it on purpose. I guess she never really needed the sticker chart. I feel a bit bad that I may have made things worse for her previously.

Has anyone else experienced similar?

well.... i'm still pulling my hair out! Whats happening?.... well, largely accident free, no problems at home, at others' houses, in town etc. But... has accident almost every time she attends nursery (twice a week)... I'm not there to do anything about this and nursery staff are not bothered, which isnt helping. Mainly I think she has accidents becasue she is either having too much fun to stop doing whatever shes doing, or shes so distrated that she forgets to concentrate on when she needs the loo. But I can ask her if she needs a wee...she says no, then 2 m ins later wets herself... she doesnt want to stop/miss anything. What can I do? I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall! sick of the sound of my own voice telling her that she needs to concentrate more and go in plenty of time etc....!!!

Hows everyone else doing?
