As a father of 2-year old Ethan, Andy has been quick to see how digital technology affects his son?s way of learning, but even from the moment of his birth, mobile apps, and biomonitoring, and digital games played a part in how he was raised. Ethan?s already on Twitter and Youtube and uses Skype through the TV in the living room to talk to relatives. In the future, Ethan will most likely have his genome sequenced in an open source digital data bank, access to robot doctors, and an education system that goes far beyond traditional learning. How will parents ready themselves for this brave new world and how will children be affected by being always already online?
In the "future vision" on 15th of March (1-2pm) web seminar, Professor Andy Miah will talk about the impact of digital technology on the future of parenting. As part of the Digital Futures 2050 project, Professor Miah will consider some of the trends in digital technology and explore how this will affect Ethan?s childhood and the lives of future generations.
