They just know how to cause maximum guilt don't they??

Yesterday lunchtime DS (2.1) refused to eat any beans on toast - normally a favourite. Kept saying "jelly, jelly". Normally, I give him his pudding to eat alongside his main meal as he'll eat both that way - but seen as he hadn't even had a mouthful of his beans I thought I'd take a firm stance and say he had to have at least a bite of toast or no jelly (the jelly had fresh fruit in it btw!)

Anyway, cue many tears from him and he ended up eating nothing at all and going up early for a nap as I assumed his meltdown was tiredness.

Well, he gets up from his nap and promptly looks white as a sheet, shaky and then vomits everywhere. Poor lad. It becomes clear now why the beans weren't appealing! I don't know why I don't learn as he doesnt really fuss over nothing! Maximum parental guilt ensued.....

Selfishly pleased I'm not the only one!
How old is your DS?
Hope he feels better soon and nothing spreads your way...

Wish i could say that something like this has only happened to me once. It's happened a few times - not the sickness, but a new tooth or cold appearing when i've been annoyed with him about his behaviour.

I shouted a couple of times this morning and felt awful. I'm not normally shouty and i have nothing to blame except maybe pmt and stress at work. He just looked so crestfallen. And i went off to work feeling like the worst mum in the world.

Anyway, you're not the only one. I sympathise.

Ah bless you. But think, if you'd given him the jelly he'd have had more in his stomach to vomit back up... He'll be old enough to be telling you soon that he feels sick or has hurty tummy, and you won't be having to try to guess if he's feeling off-colour or just testing boundaries. If only children came with a manual!
