Miss my class, take DC with me or leave DC at home alone for 10 mins? WWYD?

DCs used to have a club at the local leisure centre. To fill my time while they were there I started doing a fitness class, which I've enjoyed (and has made me fitter!)

Their club has changed and they no longer need to be at the centre at that time, but I'd like to carry on with my class.

To make the class, I need to leave 10/15 mins before DH gets home from work. He will be just getting off the train as I leave the house, then he has a mile or so to walk home.

As I see it my choices are:

-Give up the class
-Leave them at home. I would check with DH that he has made the train and is indeed only 15 mins walk away before I left.
-Take them to the leisure centre and have them sit outside the class (they won't like that!)
-Drive past the station on my way to the class, so they can walk home with DH.(they won't like that much either, but ultimately, they'll do as they're told Grin )

I have left DS1 for short periods before, but I'm not sure about leaving him with DS2. They are 11 & 9. WWYD?

I would leave them at this age for 10 mins. They should be fine.

As you say, you'd be making sure your DH was actually on the train before you left, so I'd say it's fine.

Leave them with clear instructions on what to do/ what not to do. What should they do if the phone rings, doorbell rings, fire, feel ill or get hurt, get scared' have an argument etc.

11 years old is nearly secondary age - old enough for 10 minutes independence and responsibility I think.
