Is it ok to leave baby while I shower etc!

So perhaps I will get the prize for the most ridiculous question of the day but...

My ds is almost 4 weeks; if he is clean, fed, cuddled etc is it ok to leave him in his crib or pram while I have a shower, wash and blowdry my hair.

So far I have been scheduling time for showering and washing my long hair while dh is around to look after him but its not really practical!

as I don't know the answer to this!

Yes it's fine. My two have gotten to the ripe old ages of 21 and 22, they were left as babies while I showered, went to the loo, did my hair and they didn't suffer ant lasting harm (I don't think ).

Of course it is! Just find somewhere safe and that he is happy (ish). If he is ok in his crib then great, otherwise a bouncy chair on teh bathroom floor can be a good way so he can see you.

Yes of course it is! I used to try and grab a shower while he napped, but quickly realised he liked sitting in is bouncer in the bathroom! I was also known to take the Moses basket in if he was sleeping, then realised he would be perfectly fine in the bedroom u til I was done!

Another option is to sit him in a bouncey chair in the bathroom with you.

It's fine! You can leave him anywhere safe e.g. cot or playmat with nothing in reach.

its fine, but I know what you mean, I mastered the thirty second shower when mine were babies. its even ok if he is crying as long as you are quick, you need to look after yourself as well. :)

Absolutely not, you mustn't shower again until your child is school age....

Oh yes, it's almost more tricky to have a shower solo now ds is almost 2! I have resorted to bringing him in with me nice or twice!

It is fine- they really are fine I'd they cry for five minutes (worst case, chances are he won't). I used to take dd onto the bathroom with me (in Moses basket or change mat) so I could keep an eye on her but tbh I that was unnecessary looking back on it.
Also, the blowdry doesn't have to happen at the same time. ie if you wash hair in the shower then listen to see if he is crying- if not, you still have time for a blowdry!!

Yes of course! I sit my baby in her little bath chair so she can watch me in the shower (I mean I put it on the bathroom floor not half-drown her with the shower!). She seems to find this strangely entertaining! I have had to give up on blow drying my hair though it is great to have an excuse not to do it

Even better keep him near enough to keep an eye on, I put mine on a little chair thing in the bathroom when I go to the loo - saves me worrying and also it often distracts him enough to stop crying and just look around for a minute while I have a wee

I confess though mine is 7 weeks and I have not yet managed a shower, and have had about 3 baths while ds1 was on guard to hold him/take him while I got out.

I would kill for a DH at present

Just remember that time flies and they can soon roll / climb, so a play pen is a good investment!

Strategy changes as they get older. I've gone through cot phases, bouncy chair in bathroom, playpen. When ds1 and dd were smaller I had a spell of putting them in the living room with the stairgate over the door and beebies on. Currently I either have ds2 in the bathroom in the pushchair (downstairs bathroom) while ds1 and dd play (they are 4 and 6 so can be left to roam around without getting into too much trouble) or I put ds2 in the playpen in front of cbeebies and leave ds1 in charge to come and tell me if ds2 is crying!

Ds1 was a dream though, he loved being left to play in his cot from a few weeks old. I could pop him in there and he would grugle away for a good half hour while I showered, dried my hair and got dressed in peace. I was always in hearing distance so I knew if he cried.

It's absolutely fine to leave him for a bit, and also there's no such thing as a ridiculous question when you have a new baby and your life is turned upside-down!

I used to wash my hair first, check on baby, then go in for a quick shower.:):):) oh, happy days, she is walking now and hates the play pen...

I do it when I don't get chance before dh goes to work, I normally settle her for a nap. Check doors are locked then pray to god she'l let me not only get dry but put my face on aswel :-)

Car seat also works well, we didn't have a.bouncy chair and she sat happily and often in fact fell asleep in it for short periods of time.

I leave my baby strapped in his bouncer watching Waybuloo whilst I shower and I turn on the video monitor so I can watch him for extra safety :D

My DS loves the sound of the shower and it sometimes sends him to sleep. I sometimes run it on low when I get out to keep him snoozing! Or run a bath using the shower if I have a few jobs to do.
12 weeks no so not sure how long will work for...That said he should soon be 'watching' a bit more.

I used to put my DS and DS in the simple, plain bouncer in the bathroom, so I could peek round the curtain to check on him/her while shower.
