What should my 4 month old wear?

My friend's 4 month old dresses like a proper little person: jeans and sweaters and tshirts. I assume she changes him into a sleepsuit for bed.

But I always have my 4 month old in the same thing as when she was a tiny baby: a vest, sleepsuit and maybe a jumper over it. She then wears the same thing to bed.

Is this ok? Is there some reason to dress them in little person clothes? Also: can anyone recommend some attractive baby socks that don't fall off?!

Thanks!

It really doesn't matter what your baby wears as long as it's comfy and practical for both of you! I dress DS in trousers during the day because he is completely obsessed with his bare feet. He's also trying to crawl and the bare feet grip seems to help. But each baby is different!

I had DD in babygros till she could sit up, then I felt she could pull off leggings, t-shirts, little pinafore dresses, dungarees (with poppers), pjs - everything soft and comfy with vest underneath. I was sad when she got to 2 and I couldn't find vest with poppers to fit anymore. Oh, and I've never liked jeans on DD, always look too uncomfy - she's nearly 3 now and still never wears them!

I have a 4 month old.
Up to 3 months, she was in vests and babygros but now I dress her if we are going out or if we're having people over. She got a fair bit of 3-6 months clothes so it would be a shame not to use them.
If we're at home then she'll probably stay in her babygro (at least til she pukes up on it!)

As an aside, she got a gorgeous little outfit from in laws (which cost quite a bit). I was all set to dress her in it as in laws were due over only to notice that it had 3 big buttons down the back! how impractical.

DS is 4 months and for the first 3 he was in babygros all the time. I was given jeans, shirts and hoodies in 0-3 and they were never used. Looked uncomfy and I couldn't be arsed with manhandling him into them. Now if we're going somewhere I will make more effort and put him in dungarees, cords, jumpers etc. More often than not he's still in babygros, especially in colder weather. I hate it when trouser legs ride up. I have daytime and nightime babygros.

My 4 month old wears babygros at night and clothes during the day, mainly because I was given loads of outfits and want her to get the wear out of them.
I like some little people clothes but most are a PITA. Dresses are just silly and why do baby clothes have pockets???
Dd lives in leggings and tops really with the odd knitted cardi. Hoodies are only good when going out in the pram as hats dont stay on my baby's pin head. I can't stand slogans on tops. And why are boys clothes so much cuter than girls? Dd gas loads of boys stuff or she'd just end up in pink which I can't stand!
I think it can be largely therapeutic. I'll put her in pretty clothes if I've had no sleep and been unable to shower or something so at least the baby looks cared for

Purplecatti The grass is always greener on the other side I find myself looking longingly at lovely flowery dungarees for little girls and sighing as I wade through the boring transport theme or 'little asbo' type slogans for my 3 boys ( I have a DD but she's nearly 13 so it's skinny jeans and Jack Wills all the way Hmm).

My youngest is 10 months and now he is crawling I prefer dungarees or soft trousers for him rather than babygro's. Most of our floors are hard and freezing and I think his knees need a bit of protection. I love Frugi dungarees the straps are really long so they last for ages, I don't use a vest but put a babygro underneath so there is no problem with lost socks or trouser ride up.

I like the "day" routine of clothes and the "bedtime" routine of babygro. I'm not sure whether DS knows the difference clothing wise yet, but it helped me to feel we were doing something else to tell him night is for bed!
