Head lice. How to get rid of them?

Hello, just found out my 10 year old has a headlice. Her head is full of these nasty creatures and their eggs... We have to travel in two days. Do I stand a chance of getting rid of them in such short period of time and how do I do this? Please help!

You need the Nitty Gritty comb! We bought ours from Waitrose, I think you can get it from Boots too, it expensive (about £10.00) but worth every penny! You use it to comb through wet conditioned hair and it removes the lice and eggs! It's fantastic, we needed to use no lotion after using this, good luck! Oh and do yours too!

Thank you! Bought this comb at boots and also FullMarks solution... Hope it'll help to get rid of these yucky creatures! :)

I also suggest using vosene 3 in 1 shampoo which has lice repellent tea tree in it. We use every other day on ds1 since he got his first lot of lice and (touching everything wooden) have not had them back!

Use hair straighteners too.

Will fry them.

I've never successfully got everything out with a nitty-gritty comb and have to use it in conjunction with a lotion. The key is to do it again in a week's time to get all the babies that have hatched from any eggs you might have missed. Before they get a chance to lay themselves and start the cycle again.

you need to comb every 2-3 days for about a fortnight to be sure of getting rid of them all. Some of the eggs will be too small atm even for the nitty gritty comb to get at them. I would also use hedrin as a back up but again that won't get rid of all the eggs. I would comb everyone in the house as a precaution, otherwise you can pass them to and fro. Good luck, its a nightmare but if you keep combing and check everyone, you will get rid of them.

Thank you! The war on head lice is declared and about to commence! :)
