Is this normal sleep for a 7 week old baby?

This is about the 4th parenting question I have posted this week, sorry about the excessive posting I am a paniky 1st time mum.

My ds is 7 weeks old, he is lovely but I worry a little that he sleeps too much.

He goes to sleep at 10pm, he wakes at 3-4am-ish for a feed (he is breastfed) (awake for maybe 15 mins) sometimes he wakes up at 6am for another 15 min feed sometimes he doesn't wake up again. We get up for the day at 6.30 when dp goes to work. between 6.30 and 8.30-ish ds is awake, he is very happy and chatty just after he wakes up. In that time I change him our of his night clothes and put him in a clean babygrow, he also feeds for maybe 45 mins, we sing some songs and I put him down to look at hanging toys whilst I make breakfast.

Ds then goes to sleep for another 4 hours. He wakes up around 12.30 and has another big feed and a nappy change and goes back to sleep for a couple of hours. around 2.30 he wakes again and is happy and chatty, we do some tummy time which he hates and i give him a little massage, I carry him around the apartment in the sling looking out of the windows. He goes back to sleep after about an hour.

DP gets home at 5ish, ds is awake more in the evening but he still naps on and off, i'd say he was awake for 2 hours in the evening all in all.

Dp gives ds shower before bed at 9, ds feeds and we have cuddles in bed and he is asleep by 10.

It feels like ds is not awake very much. I worry maybe he isn't learning very much. He is feeding enough as he is

My DD used to sleep like that at that age and carried on being a very good sleeper, she's now at university so I can safely say it didn't affect her development in the slightest. She has always loved her sleep. I wouldn't worry providing he is alert when awake and having wet/dirty nappies and putting on weight.

Totally agree. It's well within the boundaries of normal and sounds lie Lo is getting enough stimulation from you when awake. You sound like a great mum Smile

Thanks for the reassurance, when he is awake he is a happy little person he must just need lots of sleep. Me and my dp also enjoy our sleep so it's a good job we got a sleepy baby really! I wonder if it is genetic..
