I have a fantastic girl aged 3 and 2 months, but cannot seem to get it right with the potty trianing. She seems to be fully aware of her toiletting needs, but refuses to use the potty or toilet. I have bought every aid for her to try and make it seem fun have tried rewards, have never been cross with her about it etc. etc., but to no avail. She is now due to be left behind in her nursery school because of this issue and I am keen for her to be able to move on with her friends. If I leave her without nappies or pull ups, she will go for 7 hours plus withour even peeing - this cannot be healthy. I then end up asking her to put a nappy on just so she will empty her bladder - yes, I know this must be very confusing/annoying for her. I have spent the morning on the net looking for advice and everyone is condradicting themselves. Please help with any real life tips!!!

I didn't think they were allowed to hold them back for potty skills... discrimination or something.

The only thing I can think is to go completely cold turkey, but then that didn't work with DD and her pooing, she just held it for days. :(

I don't really know what to suugest... she will get it eventually, even if that isn't much help now!!!

thanks for getting back to me - perhaps we will have a nappy free bank holiday weekend and see how it goes. I will have the carpet shampoo at the ready....

Rosie, all I can say is that my ds (three and two days!) is completely resistant too. He just isn't to be bothered with the whole business.
Since he passed that magic boundary into being three it seems worse! Sorry not to have advice.

It's not just you! My ds is 3 and after several starts and stops have managed to get him to sit on the toilet for 10 seconds!!! Have put him into pants and he has had 3 accidents but hasn't clicked yet. He will go over 4 hours without having a wee. Only thing I can suggest is giving them a drink every 1/2 hour so that their bladder is full and then take them to the toilet.
