definitely sandys! every time

ta for the links too!

Haven't tried Sandys. I prefer Fluffles to Bamboozles (Fluffles dry much much much much faster and don't go crunchy in my hard water area like Bamboozles and regular Tots do).

NannyL · 25/04/2006 20:41

i havent tried fluffles or bamboozles yet but i LOVE Sandys.... they absorb loads and stay really soft, and if boosted will do night time as well!

I haven't tried small Sandy's, but I would think they would be the best on a newborn, particularly if it's bf. Sandy's are side-snapping, which means there is elastic on the front of the waist and the back and all the way round the leg - poop stays inside!!
I love side-snapping nappies totally bomb-proof! Grin
Fluffles and Bamboozles are cute as well, but I can say from experience they don't have the containment of the Sandy's.
I think Sandy's might take the longest of the three to dry, fluffles dry very fast, and bamboozles have a separate booster, unlike Sandy's (built in).
Probably Fluffles softest if you don't have a tumble drier to fluff the cotton terry.
Bamboozles, are probably the most absorbent of the three (once they have been washed a few times and fluff up)
I'm sorry I've probably confused you, but on balance go for Sandy's for a littlie then try other stuff when the baby's a bit bigger.
Oh and get a few gorgeous WAHM nappies for best. Look at \link{http://www.theclothresource.co.uk/nappywahms.htm\ the cloth resource} for the names of UK WAHMS.

Yorkiegirl · 25/04/2006 21:03

Have you looked at stuffie nappies? They are gorgeous and very absorbent.

sarahlou1uk · 26/04/2006 18:39

Don't know if this will make a difference but I recently tried to order some Fluffles as I have decided to use cloth this time around. Have been told by the nappy lady that there is currently a delay on Fluffles - looking like around 6 weeks before I get them. I have now decided to try Bamboozles which are readily available, together with rainbow tots.

BonyM · 26/04/2006 18:42

Bamboozles - haven't tried fluffles, but Sandys don't stay as soft as bamboozles and aren't as absorbent.

Bamboozles are great for nights as well, and I don't even have to boost them for dd (13mths).

moonshaddow · 26/04/2006 19:41

Have tried all three,

Sandies - great

fluffles -fantastic for under 6 months anything over and they get very wet, although dry super fast and stay super soft.

bamboozles - my favorite, great for absorbtion & containment and very eco friendly, only thing is they do take longer to dry than fluffles (but about the same as the sandies (get the velcro cos the nippa version doesn't nippa very well after a while.

picnikel · 26/04/2006 20:03

Sandy's are lovely for a newborn though they grow out of them fairly fast. Bamboozles are fab, very absorbant & not too bulky but I'd agree - get the velcro ones. I like fluffles too but on balance prefer bamboozles. I use MEOs most of the time though.

BonyM · 26/04/2006 21:37

Agree about velcro Bamboozles being better than the nipper version - my velcro ones are actually also softer and more absorbent than the nipper ones (not sure why).

Love bamboozles

Give them a really good shake when you take them out of the washing machine and again when dry - it makes them really soft.

lilstarry1 · 28/04/2006 21:40

I have a Sandys and a Fluffle, both work fairly well with DD who at 12 weeks is a heavy wetter and a explosive bottom kinda gal!

I think I prefer the Sandys, it takes that bit longer to dry but fits better! It's become our night time nappy, which means I don't get to see it very much anymore.. Perhaps I should buy a few more!

I'd recommend you buy a few second hand to see what suits, don't forget each baby will be different and some just don't fit as well! I'd recommend a back up of terries to as they truly are great for newborn babies!

laundrylover · 28/04/2006 22:24

I use prefolds but treated myself to a bamboozle and a fluffle this baby for nights. Bamboozle is very slow to dry and fluffle nearly dry straight from machine. I would say get some of each! Mine were from Twinkleontheweb and fluffles came in weeks ago. Give anything you buy a few quick washes before use too.
Happy shopping!Grin

peaches27 · 29/04/2006 20:24

Its like another language this real nappy business (just been on the cloth resource).

The idea of encasing a nappy in woolly knitted knickers still seems a bit strange though.

moonshaddow · 29/04/2006 20:40

noooooo! wool wraps for night time is fab -honest!

but would agree if you can't decide, get a mixture.

peaches27 · 29/04/2006 22:29

Please explain this wool wrap. When I used terries (yeah ages ago) you put waterproof pants on top which of course were horrid, but I cant imagine wooly pants working in place of these. Do their sleepsuits, vests etc not get wet?

babaworshipper · 29/04/2006 22:41

The wool is lanolised so naturally waterproof. The wool lets some of the wee evaporate. I must admit I was a sceptic but once tried I wouldn't go back I only use at night though.
