Would you let your 7 yr old DD go to a matinee One Direction concert?

DD has been invited to a friend's 8th birthday with one other girl and the parents to go and see One Direction. I'm undecided. DH not keen.

Actually since writing this and putting my sweet little DD to bed I have realised that she is far too young and will have many opportunities to do this kind of stuff when she is older. Also when she found out it would be noisy she changed her mind about wanting to go! I have to admit I did think it a strange thing to take 7 year olds to. Much more a tweenage thing I would have thought.

Please don't .. Girls grow up too fast as it is and when she is older what is left?

Friends have taken their 7 year olds to concerts and a lot of the time they don't enjoy it anyway because they can't see anything and/or it is too loud..

No, mainly because of the noise and I don't think they'd enjoy it. They should really wear hearing protection at that age which they find hot and uncomfortable and it's sort of over-stimulating but in the wrong way. A little bit dofferent but my db took nephew to monster trucks in an arena at 6/7 and he hated it and cried to go home, hated the noise and the size of the venue I think found it really overwhelming. Also they might like listening to/dancing about to one or two songs by a band at that age but I think a whole concert will bore them. Very odd thing to take 7 year olds to.

As you see from my second post I have already decided not to. Don't know what I was thinking even considering it. Momentary lapse of senses! Thanks for your posts and I will be interested to see if anyone else will post who would think it suitable.

I just want to say that I recently went to see the X factor like last week, you have to say I was surprised to see babies and 3 yr olds there! I could understand if the acts were child friendly but what is any under 10 gonna get out of James Arthur!!!!

SneezySnatcher · 03/02/2013 17:15

No way, but if there's a spare ticket I'd love to go Blush

Northumberlandlass · 03/02/2013 18:41

Does she like One Direction? I honestly don't see the problem. Am I missing something?

DS was 8 when he went to see Motorhead with his Dad (he had ear defenders).

NettoSuperstar · 03/02/2013 18:44

I took DD to see X Factor when she was three, she loved it.
I don't see the problem.
I was prepared to leave if she didn't like it though.

DebK2012 · 03/02/2013 18:58

Netto I really think it depends on the acts like Little Mix, might have been more appropriate than James Arthur, Chris Maloney, jahmene etc

PandaNot · 03/02/2013 19:03

My kids, 8 and 5 would kill to go see One Direction! They'd love it. I would let her go.

MirandaWest · 03/02/2013 19:06

DD is 7 and wouldn't enjoy it but I should think there are others in her class who would.

Burlesquebooty · 03/02/2013 19:07

Am i missing something here?
I thought one direction was aimed at 7-8 year olds Smile
I think she would love it Smile
