my ds is 5 months old and we have tried him in his own room for a few weeks however he seems to wake up earlier in his own room than he did in our room. last night we tried him back in our room just to see if it was somethin in his room waking him and found he slept later again in our room!

it isnt the light as we all know that its still very dark in the mornings so there is no difference in the light in either rooms. i have tried taking the battery out of his ticking cloth and have eliminated anythin smelly in his room. it could be our neighbour waking him up at that time as his bedroom is next door to our ds. or it could also be the comfort of having us in the same room.

i know the SID guidelines state babies should be six months when sleepin on their own but i was wondering if anyone had experienced the same as us and what age did u make the transition?

i know lots of other mums who put their baby in their own room as young as 3 months so i didnt think i was puttin him in his own room at nearly five months was exceedingly early.

DD had her own room from day 1 but i slept in with her for 6 months while breastfeeding so DH could get a full night sleep. Went to bottle from 6 months and moved back with husband- struggled. But that's another story x

Btw not sure if it's because DD always had her own bed (we never ever let her sleep in with us- once or twice fell asleep while BFing but quickly moved her back when i realised) but she WILL NOT sleep anywhere we are now. She only sleeps in her own bed. Kind of good as at least we don't have protests about her not wanting to be on her own.

DD is still in with us at 3.8 years.

I will miss her when she finally moves out - it's like a permanently hot hot-water-bottle!

DD is 17 months and still in our room, and infact, bed.
