Weaning causing massive upset at night

DS 7mo
Have been weaning for past 3 weeks, one 'meal' a day and finger foods
For the past 10 days he's been very disturbed at night, only lasting 45 mins stretches the eventually crashing around 11. We're exhausted and so is he.
On 3 days I've not given food _ slept through twice and till 430 the other time
Seems to be any food (rather than a particular culprit) - carrot, potato, sweet potato, parsnip, cauliflour, yoghurt were the onky ones he tried- and any amount (deliberately only gave him the tiniest amounts on 2 days)
Has anyone experienced this? Holding back on weaning now until we see a paediatrician I think...

How many milk feeds are you giving him with the solids?

Same as usual - offering 5 7oZ feeds but he doesn't take all of that.
He wasn't eating enough to warrant dropping a feed

Had similar with my Ds. Try introducing just one new food at a time and only give at breakfast and lunch. Give new food for 2-3 days then take a break for 1-2 days, this will give baby's system time to adjust to breaking down new foods. Have fun.

I think it takes their tummies time to adjust. 3 weeks really isn't long. I would agree that giving him breakfast/lunch is the best option so h isn't having to digest food at night. Also sounds like he still has a lot of milk, maybe he's struggling to digest all that plus solids? Have you spoken to yor HV?

Hello, I am following this discussion with interest. DD is 6 mo, started weaning today as she has been waking up around 4.30 these past few nights and not settling back as she used to. Hope she will get back to her 8pm/7am pattern soon.
