Ususally try to get them all including dd (almost 9) in bed by 8pm. DD does read for a while though, often until 9pm, later if we forget to check!

thank you all for replies. She is ready for bed at 8, lights off 8.30 at the moment.

It looks as though it will have to get earlier though, as I just discovered that Bavarian schools start at 7.30 amShock

Hi SueW Grin

My dd was 9 in Jan 06 so is practically the same age as your dd.

She's always slept well and her school day is now 8.15 to 5.20 (Yr 4) so we haven't made her bedtime later.

Sometimes she reads for 10 minutes but is usually ready to sleep. They do 2 hours of sport every day.

willyumssmummy · 27/04/2006 20:50

At 9 years 8.15pm reading until 9.00pm

My ds1 is actually nearly 10, but he goes to bed at 8 on a school day and can read for half an hour (I think he often extends that to an hour!)

swedishmum · 28/04/2006 00:00

Cam, don't you miss spending time together?

NotAnOtter · 28/04/2006 00:09

lights out 8.30 but he is not a good sleeper and lies awake!

Skribble · 28/04/2006 00:31

We aim for 8.30 so that we have peace for 9pm so we can watch CSI etc, he will lie and read for ages some nights, but we can't get him to just switch off the light. DD is 6 and goes at the same time but conks out pretty quick.

Cam · 28/04/2006 09:01

Swedishmum, my dd has school holidays of 4 weeks each at Christmas and Easter and 8 weeks in the summer. Because she's an only child she gets lots of parental attention Grin

Believe me, she needs her sleep, she always asks to go to bed the minute she's tired. I was the same as a schoolgirl, I didn't go to bed at 9pm till I was 13!

I'm becoming aware that she goes to bed slightly earlier than some of her friends (but not all as their school day is now so long and so busy they all need their sleep)

shimmy21 · 28/04/2006 09:34

Theoretically lights out at 9 but as ds is scared of the dark the lights stay on and I know quite a lot of sneaky reading goes on after we've said goodnight.
